Sayori's POV
I looked down to see the person that crashed into me. When I heard the voice who said my name and saw her face, it was Monika, the girl I met from school. I wonder what she's doing running here with a bag and a dark covering outfit on.
"Sayori! What are you doing here? I didn't know you were out this late! Monika says as she looked nervous to see me.
"Well, I would usually be out at this time to learn new things outside at night!" I said enthusiastically, though I only get out only to find a way to keep my "rainclouds" away.
"Oh, ok!" Monika says as she cracks a small smile. I reach my hand out so I could get her off of the ground. She grabs my hand as I pull her up.
"Thanks." She said as she picks up her bag and dusts it off.
"You're welcome!" I said with a smile as I blushed a little, usually this doesn't happen but it is right now, that's strange.
"Also Monika, what are you doing running at night with a bag and a hoodie on?" I asked her as I saw her getting nervous and sweating a little. I hope she didn't do anything bad.
"M-Me? U-Um, I was just running with a bag because uh- " She froze when I looked at a knife fall out from her hoodie pocket.
I was shocked! What was Monika doing? Did she rob a bank? Did she kill anyone for their belongings? Who knows? I was kinda shaking, but I asked her...
"Monika! What were you doing!?" I said as she was starting to shake a little. Her eyes started to tear up a little when I asked her that.
"I-I had to e-escape my aunt's house as s-she abused me for not f-following her f-footsteps. S-So I grabbed all m-my stuff and a k-knife to keep me safe as I-I left." Monika says as she sobs and stutters her words.
I felt so bad for her. I didn't know this would happen to her. All I heard when I was passing by the debate club's teacher, Ms Yumi, talking about Monika in her classroom to someone on her phone about how she quit the debate club as I was running back to art class after I crashed into Monika that afternoon! No wonder she was running in the hallway! Right now, all I see is the coral brown haired girl crying with her hood down and her long hair fall to her face. I can't just look at her crying like this! I pulled her into a tight, embracing hug.
"I'm sorry that this is happening. Are you going to someone's house?" I asked her as she puts her arms around me.
"I-I don't know. I-I was just r-running to find a safe place to g-go. M-My friends are b-busy and my aunt's best friend and t-trusting teacher, Ms Minako is out of t-town." She says as she buried her face onto my shoulders and her tears start soaking a part of my shirt.
I should help Monika, she cannot just end up on the streets where it is dangerous. She could stay at my place, it's kinda big enough since it's a single family house but, since my mom and dad are...gone, I lived alone and let my rainclouds get to me. Plus, it will be good to be companied by someone since I've been alone for a while. So I put my hand on the back of her head and whispered in her ear...
"Well, you can stay at my place..."
"R-Really?" She said as she picked her head up from my shoulder.
"Yes Monika, stay with me. I don't want you to end up on the streets. I want you to be safe, you've been through a lot at home and it's better if you stay with me, even if we only met at school just today" I said confidently, I'm usually not that confident when it comes to talking to someone.
"T-Thank you, S-Sayori, she smiles but she's still in tears.
I looked at her when she lets go of me and I wipe her tears from her face with my hand and I walked with her to my house.
"You're welcome, Monika..." I whispered into her ear as we walked home at dawn with the beautiful moonlight gleaming from the night sky.
-At Home-
"Well, here we are! This is my house, make yourself comfortable!" I said I put down Monika's bag since I was holding it for her while walking since she looked weak from abuse, running, and crying.
"Wow! Your house is amazing! It's pretty big for a second year high schooler like you and me. Are your parents around?" Monika says as she looks around my place.
"Thanks! Also, my parents are out of the country traveling in America, they kept me in charge at home for a long time, but I can handle it!" I faked a smile. My parents died in a plane crash on their way to America when it was my first year of high school, so it was not too long ago. Because of that, it made my depression worse and I had to be alone. I looked at the floor as my smile faded away.
"Sayori, are you okay?" Monika asks me with her hand on my shoulder.
"Yes, I'm okay, it's just that I was alone for a while and I really miss them, but at least you will keep me company, right?" I said as I cracked a "smile". All I know is that they are never coming back...
"Right! We are both gonna accompany each other and have a good time, this is going to be awesome, since I'm not in my aunt's way anymore!" She says enthusiastically, but from her eyes, she doesn't look okay for some reason.
"Yeah! We are gonna have a great time!" I said with a smile.
I started showing Monika around and then I showed her the guest bedroom. She thanked me and she starts changing as I wait outside the room. She opens the door, revealing a plain white t-shirt, dark green shorts with a white stripe on the side of her thighs, and a dark green cardigan. She had her hair in a messy bun and had a white headband on.
*yawn* "I really tired, I'm probably going to sleep, it was a pretty messed up day but, do you still wanna talk in my room, well it's not my room but...yeah..." Monika says with her hand on the door.
"Sure, I'm pretty eager to know you better as well" I said with a bright smile on my face as I get into the room with her.
We both sit on the bed and started talking until we both got tired and Monika falls asleep. She had her arms around me and snores softly with our arms around me. I blushed a little and I put my arms around her as well and our faces started touching. It made me blush even more, I never got this comfortable sleeping for a long time.
I'm starting to like her...
