I woke up to a bright light shining in my face and Mother's ugly form waiting at the door.

"Get up. It's midday. One of your girls won't get up, check on here. NOW." I scurried to my feet and winced at the raw skin rubbing against the cloth on my back.

"Yes Mother." Who needs me? Shit, Marlee. I sped up as I walked past Mother and raced up the stairs. I walked past Grace and she grab my arm.

"It's Marlee, she's got a fever you gotta help her!" I ran the rest of the way to Marlee's room and burst through the door to see her on the bed, trembling with wet towels on her head.

"My God! Marlee whats wrong?" I knelt beside her bed and held her hand.

"I-I don't know but it hurts!" That doesn't sound good.

"What? What hurts Mars?"

"My h-head and it's so hot" That's it I'm heading out to get antibiotics.

"I'll be back later, I promise. I'm going to go get something tthat helps" I stood up and walked to the door.

"Thank you Ri, Th-thank you..." Marlee's eye were fluttering closed and she spoke weakly. I better get her painkillers too.

I walked back downstairs and was heading to the back door when I ran into Roxanne and Isabelle. Roxanne was the type of girl that everyone wanted to be friends with. She had blue eyes and short blonde hair, she's 17 and she had to of had at least 8 boyfriends. Of course being the perfect princess she just HAD to be a bitch, especially to the other orphans. She didn't want anything to do with us and never accepted that she was an orphan, plus she gets special treatment from Mother. I went to step around her and she sneered at me.

"Where do you think you're going skank?"

"Out." No need to waste my words on her, not that she'ed understand half of 'em.

"I'm telling Mother if you do" she threatened. I weighed my options, risk Marlee's health, or get punished again.

"Go ahead, tell her I'll be back before 4 for me," with that I stepped around her and went to the back door, "and you have lettuce in your teeth." Roxanne turned around and stormed off and I was left with Isabelle standing behind me. Isabelle isn't a bad person. She tried to fit in with the bitches but when she's alone she is a gorgeous girl. With blue eyes and dyed blond hair she fits the description enough, but she is kindhearted.

"I'll try and distract her from telling for the rest of the day, and you may want to cover your face before you attract attention to yourself" I didn't know what she was talking about until I remembered Mother's slap yesterday day, it must've bruised.

"Thanks. I guess."

"You still better be back before 4 like you said"

"Yeah, yeah whatever," with that I walked to the door and left. I know she won't let Roxanne tell.

As soon as I got outside I ducked down against the wall and crawled over to the garden bed. Now this is where my powers become really useful, I don't know if I have any super-healing abilities but I do know that when I harden dirt over my injuries they heal quickly.

I lifted my shirt around my neck and peeled off the cloth wrapped around my torso. I winced but this was gonna help me a lot more. I moved my hands and a clump of dirt rose from the ground and I moved it to cover my back. Here comes the tricky bit, I need to actually weave the dirt into my skin for it to work. I closed my eyes and focused on the dirt. I could feel it like a connection and began stitching it into my skin. I felt some blood roll down my back but kept going, and then I was done and let out a gasp while wiping the sweat fro my brow. I grabbed a couple of rocks from the garden and stuffed them in my pocket, I'm gonna need them later.
