I felt closer to my parents after going to Albany with Cynthia and I felt like I was more mentally ready for the emotional rollercoaster of labor and birth because I was confident that Elliot wouldn't leave my side, and that my parents would be looking over me and making sure nothing happens.
"Alright, Chris, do you want new shoes now or wait till these ones get a hole in them?" I asked my son, as we walked through a clothes store so he could get new stuff before school which was less than a week away. Elliot said he'd do the shopping, but when we were buying stuff for Christopher when we first had to send him to school, Elliot accidentally forgot to get a backpack for Chris and bought him a rainbow unicorn one and not one that had dinosaurs on it as he wanted.
"I don't want to go shop for shoes or clothes, Momma. I want to get my new backpack!" Christopher exclaimed, and I nodded slowly.
"I know, but we have to get you new clothes. You are getting so tall that you need more pants." I smiled, as I grabbed his hand and grabbed a cart before starting to head towards the clothes section.
As we started to pick out clothes, my back started to ache. Christopher was whining because he was bored and didn't want to be here anymore so I grew kinda upset.
"No." Chris huffed, as I held up a pair of jeans for him.
"Chri-" I started, but then I closed my eyes tightly and dropped the jeans onto the floor as I held my stomach. I tightly clenched my jaw and almost doubled over from the pain in my stomach.
"Momma?" Christopher questioned.
"Momma!" Christopher yelled as I tried to concentrate on what was causing the pain. My doctor talked about possibly getting practice contractions at some point in my pregnancy, but I haven't gotten them before and now, now I didn't know if it was Braxton Hicks contractions or real labor.
"Hey, is everything okay?" A woman asked as she approached Christopher. I could hear him crying, but the pain seemed to never end.
"Something is wrong with my Momma! Momma, please talk!" Christopher sobbed. I opened my eyes after a moment and ran my hand over my cheeks. I had started to cry from the pain and I didn't want to cry, but I'm assuming that Chris had seen the tears and that's what really scared him.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" The woman asked, and I nodded slowly.
"Y-yeah. I'm okay. Chris, I think we need to go home." I spoke, and his eyes went wide.
"We should call Daddy." He spoke, and I shook my head.
"C'mon, love. I'm sorry, ma'am..." I trailed off, as I grabbed my purse and left the few items that we had picked up in the cart. I grabbed Christopher's hand and we walked towards the exit of the store.
"Why are you in so much pain?" He questioned, as I opened the door and let him through.
"I don't know. But don't worry. Let's just get home and I'll see how everything pans out."

I pulled into my driveway, but I was too deep in thought about what was happening to my body to cause me to be in that much pain, and if it was indeed labor, so I didn't notice Bernie's vehicle parked in Cynthia's usual spot.
"Momma, Grandma's here," Christopher spoke, as I got out and helped him get out of his booster seat.
"What?" I questioned, as I gave him my hand and helped him out of the van and onto the ground, as the metal on his leg braces hit against each other.
"Grandma." He spoke, as he pointed towards Bernie's car. I frowned because this isn't what I need right now.
"Go inside, Chris. I'll be in soon." I breathed. I walked towards where my mother in law was getting out of her car, and I swallowed hard. I haven't seen her since I broke Josie's nose, and she hasn't even made an attempt to see us.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned, as I crossed my arms over my stomach.
"I just wanted to see you all..." She spoke, as she eyed my stomach. It was as if she had forgotten that I was pregnant, and now it was clear for her and everyone else to see.
"Now is not a good time, Bernie. I'm sorry."
"What's wrong? You look pale." She breathed, and I shrugged.
"I honestly don't know. I'm going to go inside now." I spoke, before turning to walk away, but she grabbed my arm.
"Olivia."
"Please, okay? I don't know why you are really here because you chose Josie... you all gave up on having our family in your lives. Louisa is the only one who has been here for us..." I spoke, as I pulled my arm away from her's. I stopped near the door because the same pain filled my body. I gripped onto the door frame as I clenched my jaw again. I heard Bernie's car turn on and she started to back out. I had been hidden behind my van, but as she got further down then she saw me standing there.
"Olivia! My god, are you in labor?" Bernie asked, as she parked her car and got out to run to me. She reached my side as the pain faded, and I leaned against her as she wrapped her arm around my waist.
"I don't know... it hurts so bad and this is the second one I've had today." I whimpered.
"Let's get you to the hospital. Just in case." Bernie breathed, and I wanted to say no, but I was scared. I was scared that something might happen. It might just be the fear, but I didn't think contractions were supposed to be this painful from the starts.
"Okay," I whispered.
Bernie lead me to my van and she helped me get in before she went into the house to get Chris. I pulled out my cell as she helped Christopher into the van.
"Hey, baby. It's kinda early to be calling me at my lunch hour. But I'm glad to hear from you." Elliot smiled as he answered my call.
"Your mother is taking me to the hospital. I don't know what is happening but I'm getting really bad pains in my belly and I don't know what it is."
"Oh god. Okay. I'll meet you there."
Bernie got into the driver's seat and looked at me.
"Everything will be okay, I promise. Maybe you'll be getting a baby today." She smiled as kindly as she could, but it wasn't helping. Nothing was.
