Once I was a stupid brat who didn't know what life was about, I did drugs, smoked, and held stuff for people that put my whole family and myself in danger. I only needed one day of my life to prove to me that I had gotten it all wrong.
It all started on the day that my heavily pregnant auntie went into labour --- "For heavens sake Reece cant you just wake up! My sister is in labour and we need to get to the hospital now!" My mum howled. I slowly crawled out of the bed that I have been slamming in for nearly two years doing absolutely nothing. Since I left high school when I was sixteen I just lay in bed, took a few 'Special parcels' to people and partied on the weekends until my liver was half dead.
Most people think of there lives as 'Amazing', I don't think about my life at all. I just live it and when I'm dead it will be finished. Obviously. I got myself up and threw and old tracksuit on that I wear from time to time. I walked downstairs to see my mom waiting for me to get out of the door so that we could go to the hospital. She looked worried and impatient.
"Come on Reece, by the time we get there she would have had the baby!" Mum said whilst smiling at the fact that we were almost leaving. I felt a 'Reece come on don't be awkward' Moment coming on. "What about breakfast, I'm starving" I moaned. "Reece you are Eighteen not five now come on" Mom replied, suddenly becoming more impatient. "Nah I'm hungry make me something" I replied, I looked down at my phone to see a message come up. It was from a guy I have been expecting some time around now. 'I'm at the corner, get the stuff and there wont be any trouble' The message said.
My heart started racing, I looked up to see mom was making me something to eat as our stairs weirdly led directly to the kitchen unlike most of the houses on the block. I ran upstairs into my bedroom, I had to get the package quick or else there was going to be some carnage starting pretty damn soon. "For fuck suck where the hell did I put this shit!" I shouted as I threw random items out of the way. Then something switched on in my mind. My sisters room. I ran into her pink room and pulled her bed sheet up to see a lump there.
She was away for a few days on a school trip to some kind of hostel to see what 'The unprivileged' life is like. "Reece you ready yet?" Mum sighed as she just appeared at my sisters bedroom door with some buttered toast. I grabbed the packaged and ran out. "Stay up here mom I need to see someone" I shouted up the stairs. I went to bolt out of the door when suddenly a large figure came in my way. "Sorry bro here's the stuff" I said casually. I stared at his face, he didn't look happy.
He glared at me when I saw him pull something out of his jacket, it was a gun. He pressed it into my stomach firmly. "Don't" He said whilst pushing the gun in further, "Be late again" He said. He pulled out a smaller package and handed it to me. He walked away. I stood there in shock. "Reece are you done yet?" Mom shouted down the stairs to me. "Meet me in the car" I shouted back up. I walked casually out to the car and got inside. I still had the thing in my hand so I shoved it into my pocket and zipped it up just before mum caught me and kicked me out of the house for good this time.
"Lets go..." She said as she started up the car. We made our way to the hospital. When we arrived I got out and went on my phone. "Come on Reece" Mom shouted as she started running to the entrance. Some of our family members were already here waiting for us so we could just let them do the talking to the nurses to get us in.
The hospital smelt clean, too clean. It made me feel sick, not just because I'm not all the clean but because the bleach and too many cleaning solutions all combined into one was just too much for a guys nose to handle.
We went into a waiting area, it wasn't a room it was just a corridor where patient after patient were waltzed down into surgery. "WOW this is boring" I groaned. We had been here for hours now. "Stop moaning Reece you ungrateful little-..." Mum started, she stopped herself. I pulled my phone out and played brick breaker to keep myself occupied. "Reece turn it off you know that phones can interfere with the electrical equipment" Mum said, "For gods sack what can I do!" I shouted. "Quiet down you little brat!" My uncle shouted. "Shut up you douche, mom give me some money I'm gonna' go find a vending machine" I asked.
Mom sighed and grabbed her purse, "Here, five dollars now go and find something to do but DON'T go into any rooms" She hissed. "I'm eighteen mom I think I know that I cant go running into hospital rooms" I said as I walked away down the long white corridor.
I might as well just get myself lost here, I mean why not?...
