Once upon a time in San Francisco, Grizz was in the living room reading the newspaper when his six-year-old daughter Eliza entered the room. "Daddy, tell me a story," said Eliza climbing up on Grizz's lap. Grizz sighed and said, "Once upon a time there was a girl named Little Red Riding Hood." "No, Daddy! I don't want to hear that story!" said Eliza hitting her dad with the newspaper. Grizz sighed and said, "Once upon a time there were three little pigs." "No! I don't want to hear that story!" said Eliza hitting Grizz with a newspaper. Grizz sighed and said, "Once upon a time there was a boy named Jack." "No! No! No! Can you get it through your thick head, Dad?!" Eliza cried hitting Grizz with the newspaper. "I don't want to hear about the girl and her wolf problems! I don't want to hear about pigs and their fixed incomes! I don't want to hear about the boy and his overgrown beanstalk!" "First of all, quit hitting me with the newspaper!" Grizz cried. "Second, don't raise your voice at me!" "I'm sorry, Daddy," said Eliza hugging Grizz. "Apology accepted!" Grizz said happily. "What kind of story do you want to hear?" "I want to hear a Christmas story," replied Eliza. "Well, it so happens that I have a story about a little girl who loved Christmas so much that she wished it was Christmas every day!" As Eliza was listening, Grizz was telling this Christmas story.
Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Grace who loved Christmas so much that she wanted it to be Christmas every day.
And as soon as Thanksgiving was over, Grace began to write a letter to Mrs. Claus and ask her if she could grant Grace's wish. But Mrs. Claus never responded and a while later, Grace found out that Mrs. Claus was far too busy to answer letters. So, Grace began to send telegrams, and just the day before Christmas, Grace received a letter from Mrs. Claus saying that she will grant Grace's wish. Imagine! Christmas every day for a whole year!
Grace was excited that she didn't notice the fine print that was written on the bottom of the letter that read: Be careful of what you wish for, Grace. Because it might just come true.Grace was busy preparing for the Christmas extravaganza. So Grace decided to keep Mrs. Claus's promise to herself. But she's not very good at keeping secrets or promises for that matter. Grace had a wonderful Christmas. She went to bed early to let Santa Claus have a chance to fill the stockings.
The next morning, Grace was up the first of anybody and found her stocking all lumpy with packages of candy canes, apples, chocolates, books, and all kinds of goodies.
Then Grace waited until the rest of the family was up, and Grace burst into the living room to look at the large presents laid out around the Christmas tree.
There were books, boxes of art sets, dolls, stuffed animals, Legos, dozens of board games, doll carriages, rollerblades, a dollhouse, sleds, and watercolors.
The Christmas tree was filled with red and green ornaments, tinsel, and dozens of twinkling lights.Grace had a splendid Christmas all day. She had a big breakfast that included:
