Chapter 25 ~ Scan day

Alee ~

I sit in the waiting room at the clinic with Cal, waiting to be called. I had a flick through the magazines but there was nothing decent. There never is in surgery or hospital waiting rooms.

A nurse walked out of a room and called my name, I stood up and glanced at Cal nervously. He smiled and stood up with me and took my hand, his hand was sweaty, he must be as nervous as me. We followed the nurse into the room and I got on the bed like she asked me too. Cal stood beside me, still holding my hand.

The nurse instructed me to pull my t-shirt up a bit so it exposed my belly, I did as she asked and tried hard not to giggle at the coldness of the gel she put on. Cal was smirking at me, raising his eyebrow. The nurse rubbed the scan thingy around on my belly to find a clear picture. "There it is" she announced giving me a smile.

I looked at the screen and tried to make out a baby, it looked a bit weird but I could see it, just about. Cal squeezed my hand and kissed the top of my head. I looked at him and smiled "that's our baby, Cal" I sniffed as I started to cry overcome with emotion. I then realised his cheeks were wet too "you're crying" I laughed. He smirked "you are too" he teased. I gave him a look. "What? Am I not meant to cry?" he asked laughing. I smirked "shut up Cal" I teased. He chuckled.

"Shall I print out the picture for you?" the nurse asked. I nodded and smiled "please". Cal looked over at the nurse "are you able to see what sex it is yet?" he asked. Both me and the nurse laughed at Cal's lack of knowledge in this subject. "Not until 5 months" the nurse chuckled. I smirked at Calum. He just nodded obviously feeling embarrassed now.

The picture printed out then and the nurse handed it to me.

I held the picture of my unborn baby in my hands, suddenly it all seemed so real and so close and I was ready for none of it...
