Macey's POV

"Oh, my Thor." I woke up, "Tomorrow is my birthday."

I sat up in my bed. "Man, this week has gone by fast." I thought as I ripped off my sheets. I got off my bed made it. I got dressed in my outfit. After I walked out of my room, saw my parents sitting on the kitchen chairs.

"Good morning, Mother, Father," I said.

"Good morning, Macey," my parents said at the same time.

"Excited for tomorrow, Macey?" my dad asked, even though he knew the answer.

"Uh... Yeah." I replied happily. "I'm turning 17 and I get to leave the house for the very first time. Why wouldn't I be?"

"You seem happy." my mother noted, yet she seemed sad.

"Oh, mother. Don't worry! I'll still be your little girl." I told her, "I'll still make dinner and I'll come home every night."

After I finished eating, I started to sweep all the rooms, but I start in the living room first. After I was satisfied with sweeping, I start to take care of the dishes. I washed, dried, and placed the dishes where they belong. "I better feed Rocky." I thought and I left my mother in the kitchen as I walked toward Rocky, carrying her favorite rocks.

"Hey, Rocky!" I called. I stood by the front door, close enough to step outside. Yes, sometimes I was tempted to leave, but I didn't because I love my family and I would hate to disappoint them. I just had to wait for one more day. One more day. I've waited for almost a week, I can wait one more day.

"Rocky!" I called again. I listened carefully, waiting to hear Rocky running to my voice. "I have your favorite rock! Granite!"

Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!

Here she comes. What took her so long to come?? I wanted to find out, but it can wait till tomorrow. "Hey, girl. How are you?"

'GRRRRR.'

"Do you want some Granite?"

She wagged her rock like tail. She was happy.

"Here," I said as I handed her the rock. I tried to give her my attention, but I couldn't stop wondering why Rocky didn't come when I called. "Huh..."

"Maybe, She was too far to hear you." My subconscious told me

"Maybe." I slightly agreed

"Or maybe there's something over there!" My subconscious yelled, confusing me.

Rocky noticed that I was staring at the spot that she ran from and she whined. That got me out of my daydream. "What's wrong?" I asked

Rocky knew that I could leave the house tomorrow, but I couldn't leave today. She wanted to show me something, I could tell. I feed her the more Granite, but my mind kept going to the direction Rocky came from. I couldn't help, but thinking "When I leave tomorrow I'm going to see why Rocky took long to get here."

I said my goodbyes to Rocky and ran to my mother. I told her everything that just happened. She looked at me with excitement in her eyes. Her favorite child found her first real adventure. I was about to travel the world, find the secrets behind my backyard. I was stoked for tomorrow, I want to go to sleep now. I wanted my birthday to be today. I'm going to find out where my dragon went and why she didn't return when I called. I was going to get to the bottom of this, I knew it!

"That's great, dear! You found an adventure already... You must be delighted for your birthday." my mother said.

"Is it that obvious?" I asked with a sheepish smile and my mom nodded
