Kirei had been a monster hunter for quite some time. The thrill of defeating things larger or with higher natural abilities than his own excited him. It made him feel strong after tackling and conquering a challenge, like he could achieve anything. Usually he took jobs that pertained to taking care of monsters that would cause trouble or bother people and towns. One fine detail to mention was that he was also exceptionally good at his job, which was why he was alive, healthy, and keeping on at it. His talent made his name known, and caused many people to acknowledge and hire the man.
Like every peaceful day, Kirei woke up from a comfortable, soft bed to lazily walk to a mirror and meet himself there. It always took him a while to get his eyes open after such a satisfying sleep, but once they did, he loved seeing the look of someone that just had an amazing slumber. Dark brown orbs stared at the reflection of his own persona, made up of a light tan on his skin, complimented with decent facial features and a head full of medium length, dark brown hair that matched his eyes. It wasn't anything to brag about, but it was nothing to complain about either. The man splashed a handful of water to his face to pull himself out of his drowsy state in an instant. After all, he had another job that morning.
The day before, he met with a villager that was seeking for help on behalf of his whole town. It seemed urgent from the look on the old man's face, and his explanation of the situation made it clear why. Apparently his village had several cases of missing people every night, and at first they suspected the kidnapper to be a human being. That was until someone witnessed a huge creature take one of their family members and followed it to a cave hidden near the town. With the monster's location and a just reason to take it down, Kirei was happy to accept the mission and the challenge that came along with it.
Having finished his warm up routines to keep his body in peak condition, he prepared for the hunt. His clothing consisted of sturdy robes and pants, and on top of that was armor. A chest plate protected him from lethal strikes from dangerous creatures, gauntlets covered his forearms, and shin guards kept his legs safe. Of course it was all steel, and although the weight did affect him in the long run, it was better to be safe than sorry. Either way, Kirei didn't plan on spending too much time killing his target. After he finished dressing himself, he grabbed his longsword, along with a shorter one for emergencies, and sheathed them on his back and hip respectively. He was ready, and with a meditative inhale and exhale, he left for the mission.
