It was way to quiet for my liking. Why was he still downstairs? Him being here ruined my whole day. I was planning on doing some exercise but not with a crowd.I sighed and flipped though my book to the next chapter. Why couldnt my life be like a character in a book. Nothing bad ever happens when you finish with a good ending.
Someone always gets hurt in the book, compared to how this never happenes in real life. It's not like you suddenly wake up and have a beautiful man protecting you from evil. You dont just sleep with a guy and have him fall head over heels for you either.
I sighed once I finished the chapter and closed the book. It's been four hours since anybody came back home. The snow started falling and it was extremely cold outside.
I sat up and walked into the kitchen to make myself some hot tea. Might as well make the best of it. As I grabbed a mug from the shelf the basement door opened to that guy from eariler.
He had black smudge all over his face and flannel. His hair was all over the place and his necklace was backwards.
"Hot water is fixed now". He said. His accent was strong and deep.
"Thanks". I said setting the mug down.
He nodded and walked off into the living room as I started making tea. As I waited for the tea to finish I decided to grab another cup and make one for him. Might as well start the holidays off right.
Once the teapot whistled I poured the two cups and placed two sugar cubes in the hot liquid. I quickly shut the stove off and grabbed both cups and walked back into where I was.
"Who knew you were into Jane Austen"? He questioned as he read my book.
"I love her work so what"? I asked sternly.
He chuckled flipping through the pages and continued to read. I placed the hot drink down on the table as he looked at it then up to me.
"I thought I would be nice and make you a cup". I said.
"I dont like tea". He said standing up after his long pause.
Wow.. what a dick...
"Okay then". I said.
He watched my every mood as I walked across him to sit at the window chair.
"Well if you excuse me I would like to finish my book without interruption". I smartly spoke.
His eyes became dark as he glared in my direction. It's like me telling him to leave hurt his feelings. It's not like I care or anything. He was a dick to me first.
"I dont think anybody will be home soon". He said opening the curtain.
I quickly set my things down and walked over to where he was standing. I took a peak out from under his arm that was holding the fabric. The roads were completely covered.
"Black ice is already starting". He mumbled.
I cant believe this. I cant be stuck here with him. I glanced up in his direction to see him biting the inside of his cheek. He wasnt staring at me at all surprisingly. His mind set was the white blanket of snow outside.
"Welp looks like were gonna be here a while. Do you drink"? He asked walking away.
I took a second glance at the snow before turning to him. I shut the curtain and walked back over to the couch I was prior.
"No". I sighed.
"Too bad. I cant go and get wood for the fire with it being this cold. I'm gonna drink my warmth". He said opening the cabinet to the bookshelf.
Bottles of alcohol sat with cups above. He grabbed a giant bottle of something brown and grabbed two cups. He shut the door with his elbow and walked back over to me.
"Meet Mr. Jack daniels". He said opening it.
I watched as he poured the liquid into the two glasses. Once he poured both he got back up and went into the kitchen. When he came back he had an ice tray. With one swift motion two cubes were popped into both glasses.
"Bottoms up love". He said taking a sip.
I continued to glance down at the glass he had for me and then back to him.
Did he expect me to drink this?
"I'll pass. Thanks". I said reopening my book.
He chuckled and poured himself another.
"Well aren't you a shy one". He said holding the glass to his lips.
"Just around people I dont know". I mumbled still attached to my book.
"Cmon try it. I bet you will like it". He said standing up and grabbing my glass.
He bent over infront of me and handed me the smelly liquid. I scrunched my nose and shook my head.
"Pretty please. It's at least you can do so I'm not bored". He said inching it closer.
At this point I was more annoyed then anything so I took the glass. I held my nose and took a sip. The awful taste with the burning liquid killed me.
"Oh my god"! I coughed.
"Good"? He chuckled
"Hell no. Who drinks this"! I said wiping my mouth.
"Oh quit being such a baby. Take more of it down. Trust me". He said.
I decided to do what he said and took a bigger sip. It wasnt that bad the second time but the buring became stronger.
"See told you. Here". He said filling it up more.
"I think that's enough for me". I said.
He shrugged his shoulders and flipped on the TV. Before I could go back and enjoy my book my cell phone rang. When I seen it was my mom I panicked.
"Mom"?
"Hi sweetie. Bad news. Were stuck here at the mall. The police said it's a state of emergency, we cant drive anywhere. They told us we need to wait until the salt trucks come out". She said
"What about dad and Mike"? I asked asked.
I glanced over to Harry as he gave me a smirk and placed his feet just inches away from my body.
"Oh they are with us. We will call when were on our way. Gran said Harry should be there so he will help you if you need it". She said.
I bet she was smiling...
"Yes we've met, just please call me in an hour". I said.
"We will sweetheart. Love you".
Once I hung up the phone Harry's smirk left his face and only showed confusion.
"State emergency. They cant make it back". I said pulling my knees to my chest.
"Then". He said standing up. "I think you should have another glass". He said.
Without thinking of the consequences I grabbed the drink from his hand and chugged it back. Might as well make the best of it.
