"He woke up screaming again," you slumped in your chair while circling the rim of your coffee cup. Your lover, Eddie Brock, had recently moved in with you and the adjustment was rather difficult. You knew he was different — it was something that attracted you to him — but he was more different than usual. He had been getting home late, zoning out, and coming home with odd scratches and bruises.

"Cheater," your friend spoke through the bite of her blueberry muffin. You rolled your eyes as you sipped your coffee. "He's a no good jerk! I'm sure he's been running off to his mistress and fucking her. You deserve better, sweetie," she went on like this for the next hour. You enjoyed talking to your friend from time to time, but her rants on Eddie got old quick. She always reverted back to the same old thing: Eddie was cheating on you. You chose not to believe her superstition and go on with your relationship with Eddie.

You departed ways with your friend and headed on home. It was dark when you left the Starbucks you had been sitting at. Pitch black. You could barely see even though the streetlights were supposed to be illuminating the sidewalk. A loud bang and hissing was heard behind you. You froze in your tracks. The hissing shifted into growling. Your heart was beating in out of your chest, your palms were sweating, and there was a lump in your throat. "An animal," you thought "it's just an animal. But... it sounded like it said my name," You shook it off and continued to walk back to your apartment.

Once in front of your apartment door, you fumbled with the locked door. You opened it and felt relief. You're day had been long and frustrating and you just wanted to lay in bed. You walked inside to find Eddie laying on the floor, convulsing. You slammed the door and ran over to him. Your knees slid across the hardwood floor, but it didn't faze you. Eddie was your priority. He was beaten, severely. His eye was swollen, lip busted, nose gushing.

"Eds, what the hell happened? How—how did this happen? Eddie," you held his face in your hands. Eddie's entire body was shaking. He shook his head slowly, "No." He was quiet. Very quiet. He struggled to push that single word out. You were shocked. "Eddie, what do you mean? You have to tell me," you demanded. Using all the strength in him, Eddie pushed himself up with one arm and held your face with the other. "I can't let him hurt you, too," Eddie coughed. He fell into your lap, coughing and shaking. You looked down at Eddie, "Who, Eddie? What are you talking about?!"

Eddie's entire body began shaking even more extreme than before. He looked over at you as his veins turned black, "Him. It's—it's—" Eddie's entire body began to be engulfed by a black substance. He stood as he became someone else. This was not Eddie. This was a monster. "We... are Venom," it spoke. You scooted yourself back on the floor, terrified. There was a knot in your throat. You didn't know what to do other than try and get away. Even this was difficult seeing how your body had froze out of fear. The creature crept closer to you. You held your hand up in defense, scared for your own life.

"We... we aren't going to hurt you. We are a part of him," it spoke with a growl. You tried to stand, but your knees locked. You hit the floor, hard. You still couldn't talk. You had tears pouring from your eyes out of fear. The monster reached out to grab you, but you pulled away. "Stop Running!" It demanded. You pulled yourself into a chair, panting. You froze as you continued to cry in the chair. "Who... what are you? You aren't part of him," you mumbled. "I... we're Venom. Eddie... he's us. He wouldn't... won't let us hurt you. He... we don't want to hurt you. We... Eddie loves you," it stumbled over it's words. It continued closer to you. "STOP!" You demanded. It froze. "I don't... don't want you. I want Eddie. I want to know what you did to him. Why did you hurt him?! Tell me," your loud voice ventured into a whisper. It snarled it's teeth, "You... don't talk to us like that. We're much larger... stronger than you. DON'T... SPEAK... AGAIN!" You felt your stomach knot. You were afraid again. You bit the inside of your mouth as you watched the creature rummage through your cabinets. It hissed as it pulled things out of your cabinets and through them onto the floor.

It took everything in you, but you stood to your feet. "Now, listen here!" It turned and stared at you. "You don't get to come into my home and start wrecking up the place because you want to! I don't appreciate thi-" it grabbed you by the throat. "Who do you think you are? No one, not even Eddie, would dare to speak to me this way. I suggest you learn your place, princess," it hissed as it dropped you to the floor. Your body was limp. You coughed. A lot. All it did was stare at your body as it hugged the floor. You continued your coughing, "Eddie... wouldn't like... this." It snarled it's teeth once more and stormed over to your body, picking it up once more. "Edster isn't here! Only Venom! We don't want to hear another word about him, it's only us! As if we care what Eddie thinks! Eddie... isn't here," it growled. You felt your life starting to leave your body as the creature held you high. It's hands were huge, wrapping around your neck with ease. It was frustrated with you. Frustrated with your fixation on Eddie coming back. It dropped your body once more. "We're sorry," he spoke soft. He held his face in shame. You couldn't move, your body was in too much pain. "We... just wanted... URGH!" He was fighting himself.

"Venom," He turned to face you. "Help me," you coughed. He picked you up and held you like a baby.

"We didn't mean to hurt you," he whispered, "I... didn't mean to hurt you, princess."
