Chapter 3

Liam’s POV

”I’m afraid Mr. Horan has fallen into a coma.” I heard the doctor say, and I lost it. I fell to my knees sobbing again, my fault. All my fault. I heard the doctor start to speak again, “And we don’t know if he’s going to wake up.” My head snapped up “What??” I tried to yell but it came out a small squeaky whisper. “He might not wake up, but why?” I asked my eyes glistening with tears again. “Well, Mr. Horan has received a miner brain injury due to lack of oxygen and blood loss. And this might interfere with his ability to wake up” the doctor said looking at us briefly before continuing, “And at the moment we are not sure of the severity of the injury. It may help him to hear familiar voices so I suggest speaking to him often. Most comatose people can hear loved ones when they speak to them, it helps them to wake up.” I nodded my head “Thank you Doctor…” I said trailing my sentence off at the end, when I realized I didn’t know his name. “Daley,” the doctor said “Doctor Tom Daley.’ He said shaking my hand. “Thank you Doctor Daley” Paul said and with that the doctor walked out the door. We had been in Niall’s room for about 20 minutes when I heard a familiar voice in the hallway, getting louder as it approached. “Thank You” I heard the voice say and Danielle walked through the door, her best friend Eleanor in tow. Her eyes landed on me and I knew I looked like utter rubbish in my old sweats with my hair a mess and my face tearstained, I blushed. She ran over to me and pulled me into a loving hug. “Liam” she said as she pulled out of the hug “Baby, you’re a mess.” I blushed again “I know” I said. She laughed, and I smiled. “Harry called me and told me that Niall was in the hospital and you needed me but sometimes he is overdramatic and if I knew you were this upset I would have been sooner and-“ I cut her off with a kiss,  but for some reason it didn’t feel right. Danielle must have sensed that something was wrong because she pulled away and said “Li are we okay? That was like kissing a board. I know your upset but I felt nothing in that kiss.” I shifted uncomfortably on my feet. She was right I felt nothing, “Dani can we speak outside for a second,” I said “Alone.” We stepped outside of the room and I looked at her, than I spoke “Danielle, I love you but I’m just not feeling a spark anymore. I um well I –I I’m just in a tough part of my life right now and-“ Now it was my turn to be cut off with a soft kiss. “Liam I understand. I was going to say the same thing, I love you to pieces but there’s just no spark anymore. But I still think we could be great friends.” She said a huge smile on her face. “Of course” I said. And we walked back into Niall’s hospital room. “We broke up” Danielle said a huge smile plastered on her face. And with that Eleanor ran over jumped into Danielle’s waiting arms and practically snogged her face off. “Wait” I said “You two are well you know” I blushed. This was beyond awkward. “Lesbian” Eleanor said “Well I am, Dani’s Bi” Danielle giggled nervously, “Liam if you don’t want to be friends with me because of this then I totally understand. I’ll just leave and you’ll never have to see me again.” She said and I just laughed “Friends remember” she was laughing now to and we hugged. That night we all stayed in Niall’s room. Eventually everyone else was asleep and I walked over to Niall and just looked at him. I noticed how perfect he looked. His dyed blonde hair, that was perfectly messy. His mesmerizing blue eyes, that I could get lost in for hours. Wait what was I thinking Niall’s my best mate. Oh who was I kidding, I liked him. I Liam James Payne liked Niall. Wait does that mean I’m gay. I’m so confused right now, I need to talk to someone. I was deep in thought when Niall’s leg twitched. Then his eyes fluttered open “Liam?”
