Coffins+Memories

          As summer started Granny Pinako was still awaiting Edward's return. The soft breeze cleaned her lungs of any doubt that he was dead. Her boy was coming home soon and she knew it.

          That was until she saw people wearing blue uniforms carrying a long wooden box 'No' Pinako's round head fell her cheeks starting to glisten, and as she looked back up her eyes beneath her glasses had become red.
"Mam?" A bold voice struck her out of her trance, she regained her composure and replied "What are you men here for..." She paused and a few more tears rolled down her cheeks. She continued on "Any news from Edward?"
          The same man spoke again "Are you Pinako Rockbell?" To her it sounded like a statement but she knew it was a question.
The wind shuffled his short black hair, his dark ebony eyes carried heavy dark bags underneath. And his cheek too... Was glistening.
"Yes I am Pinako Rockbell." Her sudden speaking surprised a couple of men. But the black haired man introduced himself a Colonal Mustang. Edward Elric's superior officer.
          Mustang took a deep breath. "Miss. Pinako, Soldier Edward Elric was killed in the line of duty, though he only fell after helping Amestris win the Great War" he then mumbled under his breath that war shouldn't be called great. And the proceeded to salut as the other men carried the black and gold lined coffin with the military's insignia on the top. The same insignia that was engraved onto Ed's pocket watch.
The Colonal stopped saluting after many great words were said about the elder Elric as he was buried right beside two gravestones
Here lies
Trisha Elric
Mother, lover, and family
(Don't know when she was born or when she died)-35 years
And the other one was on the other side
Here lies
Alphonse Elric
Little brother, son, cat lover
(Don't know when was born-1916)-16 years
And lastly the newest one that had been freshly carved out of a newer stone
Here lies
Edward Elric
Oldest brother, son, soldier
(Don't know when was born-1918)-18 years

          When the funeral finished everyone who knew the Elric's had been there except one person, the last Elric, Hohenheim Elric, their dad, and husband.
Considering the funeral was last minute, it went as well as a funeral could go. One last man walked slowly towards Granny Pinako and her granddaughter  .Winry Rockbell. The Flame Alchemist was towering over Pinako but only slightly taller than the blonde who had sat down during the funeral.
          "This is for you two and if his dad ever comes around give the third one to him." He stated as professionally as he could under the circumstances. He had given them three letters. One addressed to Shorty Pinako, the second addressed to Angry Mechanic Winry, and the third was addressed to Crappy Dad Hohenheim.

The pint sized woman had already begun to open hers. Her granddaughter as well.
Inside both was a photo of all three of them together before he left for war. And Alphonse who was still alive at this point could be seen in the background pointing towards the crystal blue sky. Winry's cheeks were wet. And her head hung low while she was reading
"     Dear Winry,
   
          I'm sorry I couldn't fulfill my promise to you. I'm sorry that I left you. I'm sorry Winry. I'm so damn sorry...
If only I hadn't committed that sin that night I would be right by your side as you read the newspaper or work on automail.
I have two more things to say to you

She suddenly whipped up her head,eyes full of tears.
"DAMN IT ED!!!! You-you promised me!"

Her granny started to read hers

".        Dear granny Pinako,

         Thank you for everything you've done for Alphonse an I.
Just wanted you to know that I'm telling Al you and Winry said hi.
And I'm sorry that I can't say this thank you in person.
And I have a surprise for you...I MISS YOU!
       And don't you forget it

          Pinako grinned "that boy" she laughed as she let Winry read her letter, and cried after she read Winry's. " We miss you to Ed..."

They both glanced curiously at his fathers letter. Picked it up and headed towards the Resembole hospital. Where he had told them to meet if they needed to find him.

            The blonde man poked his glasses as he read a letter that was brought over by Winry and Pinako Rockbell. 'Oh god what am I going to do now' he let out a muffled laugh waking the girl he had been taking care of for the past few days. Waking her, up she pointed to the letter as she spotted it and shot him a curious head tilt.

          He sighed "it's from my son..." His voice faded at the word son. And when he saw her face he quickly added " Trust me you don't want to read it... My son wasn't the most*cough cough* well umm, most of the words he conversed with me were curse words" his face returned to a stale look as she glared at him again. He sighed again, rubbed his forehead, and gave the girl the letter to read.
As she read the first part her eyes widened in shock thinking 'he wasn't kidding'

" Dear, Hohenheim,

As you know you are a fu***ng horrible person leaving your kids and your sick wife alone YOU BASTARD!!!!! 
I still hate you, but since I'm not completely made of curse words I decided that I would write you my BASTARD of  a self proclaimed dad a letter,
Ok here we go...

The girl shook her head in surprise. Either his son was a bad kid OR the dad really was a bastard.

Suddenly she heard a loud scream, then after a while total silence except for what sounded like a baby cooing at their mother. 'Mother...' She recalled what her mother had always told her 'live for yourself... Not for the pigs, she never understood what she meant by pigs but she did now.
"AHHHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHA" a sudden scream turned into maniacal laughter... Then it stopped just like the other scream, and just like last time it was a baby cooing.
