Disclaimer: Sasha's boyfriend is in NO WAY an OC. Don't get annoyed at me for putting a character not in the show in this work. I was going to make her boyfriend one of the Woodscouts, but honestly I can't see her being with any of them. Anyways, enjoy the chapter.
"Hey Nikki!" Sasha waved the group over, once she noticed them wandering around and looking confused.
The group walked over to Sasha and her boyfriend, relieved to be found. "This theatre is so nice," Preston said in awe.
Sasha tilted her head. "You've never been here before?"
"Girl, I'm fucking poor as hell," Preston snapped back.
Sasha looked him up and down. "Well, you don't dress poor."
Preston tossed his hair. "I know." He paused for comedic effect, although no one but Sasha laughed. "Thanks, though."
Nikki broke the tension between the men in the room and interrupted Sasha and Preston's conversation. "We should probably go into the theatre."
"Oh, yeah. I need to buy popcorn though," Max said, pulling out his wallet.
"No," Sasha said, "It's in theatre service. And I'm paying this time." She said with a wink, and Max looked at Nikki, impressed.
Max leaned into Nikki's ear and whispered, "Damn, I do not regret coming."
Nikki chuckled and brushed him off. "Alright, then let's go."
The group began walking in and Sasha briefly introduced her boyfriend as Cole White. He hadn't spoken a word the entire night, and Neil assumed Sasha was only dating him for photo ops and someone to stand next to at all times. He didn't seem like her type.
They all sat down in their very nice seats. The entire environment in the theatre was classy, and everyone felt out of place, except Sasha and Cole. Nikki grabbed Max's hand and nervously laughed. She leaned in and whispered to Max, "Baby, I'm so worried that she's gonna think I'm weird or something."
Max gave Nikki's hand a tiny squeeze and mouthed, "You'll be fine."
Neil stared at Preston, while Preston was having an incredibly loud conversation with Sasha about designer brands. The commercials had already started, and they were receiving dirty looks, so Neil put his arm around Preston to distract him from Sasha. Preston's heart fluttered, and he nuzzled into Neil's chest. "Hell yeah," Neil said to himself.
"What was that?" Preston asked.
Neil blushed. "Oh, nothing."
Before the actual movie started, they used their opportunity to order in theatre service, and got very expensive food, because they knew Sasha would pay for everything. Once the movie started, they all quieted down. And when the screen showed the title Bohemian Rhapsody, Max started crying.
"You good bro?" Neil asked quietly.
Max nodded. "Bro I just love Freddie Mercury so much."
"Bro same," Neil responded.
"Shut the fuck up," Nikki whispered.
And they did. Max stopped crying a few minutes into the movie, but a few more tears were shed when they performed We Are The Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody itself.
Everyone else was silently judging him for crying, but they regretted their mocking ways, when every single one of them bawled during the Live Aid Final Scene.
When the lights came up in the theatre, applause flooded the room. None of them had ever seen people clap after a movie, because it is gross and unneeded. But for this movie, it was deserved. As they walked out of the theatre, a conversation followed.
"I am shooketh," Max said, his body quaking.
Nikki nodded. "Same. All I wanna do now is watch it again."
"Oh my god, right?" Sasha said in her typical valley girl voice, responding to something Preston had said.
"Wait, what'd he say?" Neil asked, trying to keep up with the group.
"He said Rami Malek is super hot," Sasha responded.
Neil smirked. "Holy shit, yeah. I frickin love him."
"Oh and he was super hot in Night At The Museum!" Nikki added.
"Yes!" Sasha dragged out her 's.'
Max looked around. "I'm the only person here who doesn't like men... I feel left out."
"I don't like men," Cole said quietly.
"But you never talk," Max said, stone faced. Nikki gasped and smacked Max in the arm. "Ow, Nikki, what the fuck was that for?"
"We'll talk later," Nikki said in an unforgiving tone.
Sasha had a look in her eye that showed she was desperate to end the night on a good note. "It was great to see you guys. We're gonna head out." She did the little gay wave and they were out.
"Did you guys notice how she always talks in a valley girl accent, even though she's from New York?" Neil remarked. Max burst out laughing.
Preston scoffed. "It's her aesthetic. Let her live her life."
"Maybe her parents have the accent," Nikki suggested.
"That's not how this works, Nik," Max replied. "Why were you so pissed earlier?"
Nikki rolled her eyes. "You said some rude shit to my new friend's boyfriend."
"Whatever," Max said, and received another smack.
They barely talked on the way home. It was way too cold for them to enjoy their time, and Nikki wondered how Sasha managed to wear something skimpy and not freeze to death. Max had his arm around Nikki to heat her up, and it didn't help. It was a nice gesture, though. Neil had an arm around Preston, and it did help. Preston's mentality was that his heart was warm. But as they walked, Preston felt odd. Paranoid. Like someone was following him. Preston turned around to make sure no one was there, and thank god he was right. But as he turned his head, he saw the flash of a familiar face that his brain identified as his ex, Henry. He turned his head to the side again to double check, and saw Henry standing on the other side of the street, staring at him like he was prey. Goosebumps crept up Preston's spine as he turned to face forward. He gripped Neil's hand harder and prayed that 'Henry' was just a figment of his imagination. Preston knew though, that his prayers weren't worth it. He knew what Henry was capable of.
And the thoughts that ensued kept Preston awake all night.
