Veena left the room with Oscar and Weiss as Blake tended to Yang. Qrow needed time alone, his hands on his head as silent tears streamed down his cheeks. Alcohol was no use now, it was too real. She stopped at her tracks as she saw the hooded girl huddled at a corner, her knees up to her chest as she cried. Summer glanced at Veena to make sure her semblance was still working. The white hooded woman approached her slowly. And before she could speak, her words pulled the strings on her heart.
" Veena, please stop...It's not funny...It's not..." The poor girl cried. Slowly, Summer approached her little girl. She knelt down in front of her and brushed her hair. " No! Mom's gone. And she's never coming back! She's....never..coming..."
" Ruby, my little rose..." She placed a hand on her cheek, but she couldn't touch her. That alone silenced her, no words would come as the despair of being unable to hold her baby loomed over her. " My Ruby..."
This was not good, there was so much despair in the house, so much negativity. Something must be done but what? Weiss went over to Ruby to calm her down as Veena tried to limit her semblance. Blake was doing her best but Yang couldn't help but cry. She sat there, holding on to Blake as memories with Summer filled her thoughts. God knows how to help Qrow, he was just silent. Too silent and it was concerning. Veena glanced at the mirror as the dark figure followed.
" You brought them here, this is your fault." She hissed in a whisper at the image in the mirror. He gave her a sad smile and mouthed 'we are the same person.' She was taken back by this. " No we aren't...what?" He lifted his flute and started playing. The gentle melody filled the house, it was...calm. The three of them had stopped crying and were starting to calm down.
" R-Ruby?" The girl slumped and fell into Weiss' arms. " Ruby!"
" Yang!" Blake said alarmingly as she slumped. There was a soft thud and Qrow was on the ground. " What did you do?" She said turning to Veena.
" Veena, stop it!" Oscar said grabbing her arm. Veena looked at him surprised to find herself playing the flute. Where'd it even come from? She looked at him for a moment then back at the mirror. She pushed him aside and took a few steps closer to the mirror. " What are you doing? Stop it."
" So this is my key..." She said to herself, ignoring Oscar entirely. She placed her forehead against the image's and smiled. " Red and White, Black and Yellow. Shielded by an olive tree, guarded by a crow." She opened her eyes and her semblance ran free. " Don't worry, they're just asleep. As they should be. Let them rest." She said simply with a smile.
" You can't just do that!" Blake shouted. " You can't just do that to them."
" I warned them, did I not? Since you assume I am the cause of their sorrow, then I'll fix it." She glanced at the dark figure, who understood and took form of a black flute. She played her tune and the ones sleeping seemed more relax.
" What did you just do?" Weiss asked as she noticed Ruby smiling softly in her sleep.
" She's orchestrating to shape the best kind of dreams for them." A voice spoke. A young faunus with the ears of a fox said smiling in her ghostly form. " Now don't be alarmed, I'm Aris' friend. At least well, in his lifetime."
" Just, what kind of dreams?" Maria asked as she used her cane to poke Qrow.
" Shh." The fox lady told them. " She has to concentrate. Aris' semblance allows him to play music that affects your soul. He can read you like a book just by sensing your aura. As far as I've seen he can even disuade people or grimm from coming his way. As if his music could control their emotions and instinct. It's influential." She said as she watched Veena. " This is my semblance, only found it after death. Terrible, right? I live on even without a body, just my aura. Not much I can do though. Oh hey, the little rose is smiling, cute." She said with a smile.
' Maybe we should put them in bed,' Ozpin said after being so silent.
" Really? That's the first thing you say?" He was silent again. " Oh come...on..."
" What happened?" Blake asked as she attempted to carry Yang to her room. " What did he say?"
" He's...asleep?" Oscar himself was confused. " How is that even possible?"
" I put him to sleep." Veena said with a cheerful smile, " Don't worry, you all should go back to sleep. In the morning, everything will be alright." They felt slightly uncomfortable with the sound of those words. But there was still a snowstorm going on outside, they'll stay for just one more night.
