‘You have one new message.’ My home phone blurted loudly at me. ‘Scar, please. Please, I’ve called you everyday for three weeks. I keep leaving you pointless messages in the hope you’ll take me back. I know you probably won’t forgive me, but I need to tell you the full story. Please, just call me back. I need to hear your voice one last time. I love you Scar.’ The recorded message ended, his broad Bradford accent echoed through my ears. I sighed hard. This needed to stop. I couldn’t take this anymore, it hurt too much.
‘Zayn. You said you wanted to hear my voice one last time? Okay here goes, leave me the fuck alone.'
