Author's Note: This is a poem I wrote many years ago for a friend who lost her infant daughter to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). On her headstone are the words:
Always In Our Hearts And Thoughts
Shortly Lived, Always Loved
I wrote this poem around that phrase.
For little Ashley:

Too soon, my dear, you left us
And went to a better place
In the lives of those who loved you
There is now an empty space
The angels carried you away
To the Lord's kingdom in the sky
Even today when we think of you
It still makes us cry
You made a great impact
On all the lives you touched
We wish you hadn't gone
We all miss you so much
We know we will meet again
In the glorious heavens above
You are always in our hearts and thoughts
Shortly lived and always loved
