The Sweetheart

I check to see her making breakfast, "Hey dad I'm making food this time that's why I woke up extra early!" Gine said cheerfully. "Uh sweetie that's fine d-daddy can make the food!" I say as I was stopping her from chopping with the butcher knife. "Aw pleeeeaaaase!" She said begging and grabbing onto my armor. Oh no she is using those eyes, Gine can't cook she is terrible! But I can't say that it would ruin her little life. I thought to myself, My daughter or my Life, I knew the obvious choice. "Fine." I said while dropping a tear. "Yay!" She cheered "I will make you the best breakfast ever!", I worried for my life. What have I done? I might not even leave the house after having that important dream much less save the race. "It's ready!" She yelled. I took a huge gulp and thought about my actions about what led up to this moment. The food looks somewhat edible but that has fooled me a lot in the past. I took a bite and tensed up my body for the worst but it was actually decent. "Wait did you make this?" "Did you actually make something edible?" I said surprised and with tears of joy coming out of my eyes. "Yep, I just wanted to see you enjoy yourself so I put one hundred and ten percent into this meal!" I gobbled down the food as if this was the only time I was ever gonna have it, which probably was, and was ready to head out on patrol. "Hey dad?" Said Gine. "Yes sweetie?" I said with my mouth full of food I didn't swallow. "What was mom like?" She said. I stopped and swallowed the food in my mouth and thought about the question she told me. "Well She was just like you but a better cook" I said with a smile. "Do you think she loved me?" She said as she turned away from me. "Of course she did, I mean you are just like her in pretty much every way and that's why we named you after her." I said reassuringly. "And she will always love you sweetheart." I say with a smile while I give her a hug and I wipe her tears away. "Alright Ill be back later from patrol!" I wave good bye and I was on my way.
