Calum sneaking out of the castle was normal, him sneaking out of the castle with no disguise was out of the ordinary. You stood there from the stairs with your eyes on Calum who was dressed in his flashy clothing and sitting on one of the dining tables. Your parents were acting stiff and nervous as if they had to do everything perfect in front of royalty. "What are you doing here?" you asked. "(Y/N)! Don't be rude to the prince! I-I'm sorry your majesty," your mother says frantically. "It is fine," he answers before looking at you with a pout, "Why? I can't be here? I always come here and you know that." "Yeah, in disguise!" you said. "Disguise? You mean he's been here by his own free will before?" your father asked. "That is besides the point," you said. Calum sighed and stood in front of you, "Can you let me off the hook today (Y/N)? Let me just stay here for a bit. I don't want to go back to the castle. I haven't seen you in a long time, don't you miss me?" he says while trying to bribe you with flattery. "Uh...No? Am I supposed to miss you?" you asked him. "(Y/N) you're so mean, I thought we were friends," he says teasingly, and you roll your eyes trying to process the fact that Calum was indeed a prince. You led him upstairs to let him borrow your dad's clothes as a disguise. When Calum finished, the two of you headed to your room so he could explain. "Maybe I can stay here for a day or three," Calum says while looking around in your room. "That is out of the question Prince Calum," you said. "It's just, 'Calum' when I'm in peasant clothes. I'm trying to be low key here," he says. "Just please explain why you are here, and why you snuck out so recklessly," you said. Calum stops joking and sits next to you. "As you already know, I've been really busy at the castle...I got stressed out, and I just needed to escape to clear my head. I wasn't really thinking so I just left without even changing," he says before flopping down to your bed. "...Still, you can't stay here," you said. "Oh come on (Y/N)-" "I can't let you stay, but I'll spend the whole day with you so you can relax...When the day is over, you have to go back to being a prince..." you decided. Calum didn't seem to budge. "And if you want, you can come back again when you want to, I'll be here waiting as always," you bargained, and he gave in. The two of you left the bakery and made your way into town where people could shop. Calum found interest in small things that weren't expensive or luxurious. He would say that he has never seen such simple things before and found it better than what he was used to seeing in the castle. "What is it? You don't find this interesting?" Calum asked. "Well no, I see it every day like how you see luxury everyday," you said kicking a pebble. "Being royal isn't all that it's cracked up to be. If it was a perfect lifestyle, then I wouldn't be sneaking out in the first place," Calum says before running to a food stand and buying what they were selling before running back to you. "I know being a royal is probably hard, but something about it just seems really nice. You work hard in your own way, but you don't really need to work you know? Like you have people serving you to care for certain things. You don't need to do your own laundry or worry about if you are going to have enough to eat-" "Are you having trouble with getting food on the table?" he asks you with a concerned look. "It's fine, we get by Calum. I'm just speaking in general terms," you said shrugging off his question. You looked back at the castle that was in plain sight for everyone to see, "Like how you are so curious about what's here in the village, I'm curious what's in the castle," you said while Calum munched on his purchased food items. "Do you want to go? See the castle that is...I can let you in," he says simply. "No, no...It's fine. I don't want to let you go through all the trouble," you said. Calum paused and started to head in the direction of the bakery, "I think I should take my leave now...Thank you (Y/N), it was a lovely day," he said and took your hand so you wouldn't fall behind. "It's no problem, really," you said. "...Listen, I'll let you see the castle one day, okay?" he says looking at you. You chuckled and looked down to the ground, "Alright."
