Chapter Two: The Chase

"Let's get moving!" I shouted, and began to head in the opposite direction of the howling Wargs. We began to cross the plains, hiding behind several rocks in fear of the Orcs spotting us. I stayed in the back of our rather large line, keeping everyone else ahead of me. We quickly hid behind another outcrop before Thorin grabbed Ori from running too far. Unfortunately one of the Wargs caught our sent and was now on top of the rock we were hiding behind. I noticed Kili drawing his arrow and stopped him, pointing silently to a black dot in the sky that was growing bigger.

Yarí had reached us before knocking the Warg from the top of the boulder and killing it, but not without the Orc letting out a loud squeal to alert its comrades. We quickly ran but were soon surrounded by Wargs. I quickly hopped onto Yarí before letting him take off; I quickly used my height to my advantage. I began to send arrows down onto the Orcs as fast as I could get my arrow ready. I quickly shot a Warg that had come too close to the group.

Once they ran towards a hole underneath a large boulder did I land to defend them. Yarí quickly began to dispatch the Wargs coming towards me while I yelled at Kili to run. I then pulled out my sword and charged the orcs. Once I saw everyone was inside I dove into the hole Yarí following me closely. It was once we were inside that we heard a horn and an Orc corpse fell into our hiding place. Yarí and I pushed everyone out of the way. Thorin stepped forward and pulled the arrow out of the corpse, "Elves." He snarled before throwing the arrow down.

"I canno see where the pathway leads!" Dwalin shouted, looking down at the end of the tunnel. "Do we follow it or no?"

"Follow it of course!" Bofur shouted; a scared sound in his voice. The Dwarves raced to the end of the tunnel. I sent Yarí out of the tunnel to find us later; a cave was no place for a griffin. I followed the Dwarves easily, my small figure gliding between the rock walls. I gaped at our destination once we exited the tunnel. I was no stranger to the beauty of Rivendell, I laughed before letting out a loud shrill whistle to let Yarí know where we were.

"Must you make such a loud noise?" Kili asked from behind me.

I turned to him a manic grin on my face, "If I didn't this trick would never work." Kili looked confused before I turned around and, at a run, jumped off the small cliff. I began to whoop and holler in the air before being caught by Yarí as I almost hit the river. I was grinning widely as we flew through the moist air, Yarí performing many tricks through the air. I spotted the Dwarves huddling themselves into a group as the Elves paraded around them. I sighed in irritation as we swooped down before landing next to the stubborn dwarves.

"Must you be so stubborn Thorin." I sighed as I glared at the group before seeing Lord Elron. "Uncle!" I shouted before throwing my arms around his waist. "It has been a long time." I muttered.

"So it has, look at you." Elrond lifted my chin up so he could see my face better. "Even more beautiful than last I saw you." I gave him a half-hearted glare.

"You know not to say such things." I teased.

"I could not resist, please forgive me, Dû Rochen {Night Rider}." He teased back. My faced burned in embarrassment.

"I hate it when you call me that." I muttered, turning to the dwarves, who had a look of betrayal on their faces. "Oh for I mela uin... {Oh for the love of...} He's not blood related! Gandalf brought me here when I was younger!" I snapped. Their eyes softened as I walked past them and towards my old room, Yarí followed me. He settled on the bed I had made for him while I began to fill the tub with hot water, wanting to forget the stubbornness of dwarves for a long while. After a short while I heard a soft knock on my door. I sighed before closing the door to the bathroom with my mind, "I'll be out in a moment, come in." I shouted.
