Meanwhile, the gang just kept running, and running, and running until they had finally found Joey!!!! He was having a duel with some creepy-looking guy...
"Joey!" Yugi called out to Joey.
"Joey!" Tristan chimed in.
Joey turned around to face the voices that called out his name, and he was amazed to see that his friends had shown up!
"Yugi! You're really here!" He exclaimed, astonished.
"Block em!" The guy, who was actually known as Bandit Keith, told his men, and they all nodded in agreement.
"What kind of duel arena is this?" Yugi asked, in disbelief.
"Are you crazy? Why in the world did you accept a duel in a place like this?" Tristan asked Joey, slightly annoyed.
"Yeah, like I had a choice. Those three creeps there gained up on me and forced me into this crazy duel." Joey shot back.
"Whoa!" Tristan exclaimed, before he and the others eyed Keith's men.
"This duel's over." Tristan told them.
"That's not up to you, chum." The guy with the short red hair scoffed.
"I say it is." Tristan glared.
"You wanna stop it? You gotta get past me!" Another guy with the dark blue spiky hair said.
"My pleasure!" Tristan replied in determination, as he charged at the two men, but a little rock was thrown at his head and the guy with spiky hair punched him in the gut! Tristan fell to his knees as he groaned in pain.
"Tristan!" Yugi exclaimed.
"Tristan, are you--" Joey started, but Bandit Keith cut him off.
"Hold it." Keith called out, and Joey turned around to face him.
"Remember, if you leave the arena, you forfeit the duel, and all your star chips belong to me." Keith taunted.
"What?!" Joey exclaimed.
"The duel is illegal anyway!" Tea snapped.
"Yeah, and I could arrest you for that!" Jill chimed in.
"Right, girls!" Bakura replied to the girls, in agreement.
"Wrong, girls! When he threw down his star chips, he accepted the duel." Keith replied to the girls, before he laughed.
"In that case, Joey--" Tristan began, as he got up from the ground while groaning in pain.
"You're just gonna have to beat these punks. And if you're gonna need a little added motivation, try this!" Tristan advised, as he threw Joey's wallet to him, and Joey caught it in surprise.
Joey's eyes widened when he saw that the picture of Serenity was in the wallet!
"Serenity!" He exclaimed.
"That's right, Joey. Your sister. You're dueling for her." Tristan told his friend, in determination.
"Thanks, man." Joey smiled.
"So, what's it gonna be? You gonna cut and run, dweeb, or you gonna part with your star chips the hard way?" Keith taunted.
"Hey, I've had it up to here with your smart remarks. Spill! Who are you anyway?!" Joey demanded.
"Don't you know? They call me Bandit Keith." Keith replied, smartly.
"You're Bandit Keith?!" Yugi exclaimed, in disbelief.
"I've heard that name somewhere before." Tea pondered.
"Yeah, he's the intercontinental champion. That guy that Kaiba told us about. He's only lost one Duel Monsters challenge, and that one was to Pegasus himself." Yugi replied, as he remembered that Keith was the guy who Kaiba was talking about.
Everyone's eyes widened at Yugi's explanation!
"Huh. No wonder skull face there has outsmarted me at every turn." Joey ranted, in realization.
"Which is why you ought to just pack it up and go home, dweeb. Cause I've given my little pal Bonz here the perfect strategy. You couldn't beat him with every card in your deck." Keith taunted, as Joey trembled in anger.
"Nobody's gonna get inside Pegasus' castle except for Bandit Keith and us." The spiky-haired guy taunted.
"You fought your last duel, Joey. You're about to join the other zombies in this graveyard field." Bonz taunted.
"A graveyard field?" Yugi whispered to himself.
"Come on. Play your next card or rest in peace." Bonz taunted again.
Joey glanced down at the picture of Serenity, then he toughened up and announced in determination, "For your sake, I've gotta win!"
Then he picked up one of his cards and placed it down in front of himself.
"No! All your hopes and all your dreams will die right here!" Bonz snapped back.
"Says you, geek! I'll keep my defenses up until I find a way to attack!" Joey shot back.
"You know, you shouldn't broadcast your strategy." Keith stepped in.
"I what?" Joey questioned, and Bonz snickered to himself.
"Especially when it's a losing one. Bonz has a special card in his deck that'll render all your defenses useless!" Keith answered.
"You gotta be bluffing. He can't possibly do that with one card." Joey said, in disbelief.
"Oh, yeah? This trap card can. It's called stop defense!" Bonz taunted.
"Oh, no." Joey shook his head, exasperated.
"Stop defense is big trouble, Joey!" Yugi warned.
"From now on, any card you try to play in defense mode will activate the trap! And you still can't stop me from raising the ectoplasmic power of my zombies! So now, all that's left is to sniff the last monster you have standing. Deadly zombie breath!" Bonz taunted, before one of his monsters breathed its zombie breath on Joey's monster.
Keith laughed in satisfaction and said, "End of the road for you, dweeb. You got nowhere left to run now.
Joey was frustrated, then he glanced at the picture of Serenity and sighed, "I let you down, sis."
"Don't let him scare you, Joey!" Tea called out to Joey.
"Hang in there!" Bakura chimed in.
"You can do it!" Jill chimed in as well.
"Whatever he says, don't quit." Tristan chimed in, firmly.
"Quit? No way. I can't give up. Not while Serenity's counting on me." Joey replied in determination, before he picked up one of his cards and placed it down in front of himself.
"Go! Red Eyes Black Dragon!" Joey summoned his monster, before it appeared on the field.
"Red Eyes? Where's this dork get a card that rare?" Keith exclaimed, in disbelief.
"If all my defenses are blocked, then I'll just have to take to the offense. Red Eyes, take out that overgrown pumpkin!" Joey commanded his monster.
"What do I do? His attack power is greater than mine." Bonz said, fearfully.
Then the Red Eyes went to attack as Joey called out the attack, "Inferno fire blast!"
Then the fire landed on the pumpkin, and it exploded for good!
"Yeah!" Jill cheered, happily.
"All right!" Bakura cheered happily as well, as he held his arm up.
"Nice move, Joey! Now he can't raise his monsters' attack power any higher! And since Pumpking was already a ghost from the start, he can't use the call of the haunted to bring him back." Yugi called out to Joey, happily.
Bonz trembled as his life points had gone down to 855.
"Minor setback, Bonz." Keith suddenly spoke up, which caught Bonz's attention.
"Don't forget, you still got more than enough attack power to polish him off for good." Keith reminded.
"Yeah. Ok, boss." Bonz nodded, before he commanded his monster.
"Go Dragon Zombie! Blow Red Eyes away!"
"My Red Eyes! No!" Joey exclaimed, as his Red Eyes now disappeared!
Bonz laughed in satisfaction and said, "Even Red Eyes was no match for me."
"With that card wiped out, I'm all but done for." Joey trembled, as his life points now went down to 150.
"Red Eyes Black Dragon, up in smoke." Bonz taunted.
"He--he annihilated my strongest card." Joey still trembled, which made Keith laugh.
"It's all over for you, dweeb." He taunted.
"Don't give up." Tristan muttered.
'I'm all out of moves. The only monster card that I've got left is Battle Warrior, and his attack powers are way too low.' Joey thought to himself nervously, as he looked at his cards.
"Well, are you going to play or surrender?" Bonz taunted.
Tea knelt down in front of Yugi to whisper in his ear and asked him, "Yugi, isn't there some way Joey can beat that little ghoul?"
"He's in a big jam, Tea. Attacking the zombie army doesn't do any good, and that trap card blocks all his defenses." Yugi answered, then it hit him!
"Defense! That's it! Joey, there is a way! You've got a magic card in your deck that can turn this whole thing around!" Yugi called out to Joey, which caught Joey's attention.
"Heh. You've got to be kidding. You're Yugi, right? Well, maybe you beat Kaiba, but the strategy you gave Bonz is just perfect. Your friend is a goner!" Keith scoffed.
"Joey, he's wrong!" Yugi called out to Joey.
"You sure?" Joey inquired, a bit unsure. Yugi just looked at Joey firmly, while Joey just looked at Yugi for a moment until his face suddenly brightened and he nodded in agreement.
"Ok. Yeah. Trust in the cards." Joey agreed, before he picked up one of his cards and pondered for a moment as he looked at it.
'Yeah, this is... the one. This must be the card Yugi was talking about. Shield and sword is a magic card that swaps the attack and defense points of every monster on the field! If I can take away the zombie's attack power by flipping it defense, his monsters won't be able to stop my next card!'
Then he spoke up as he placed his next card down in front of himself, "Yep. It's my only chance. Battle Warrior-- In attack mode!"
Then the Battle Warrior appeared on the field!
"So, it's the only move you had left, huh?" Bonz taunted.
"And then I add this magic card called shield and sword." Joey added in determination, which made Keith shocked.
"What?!" He exclaimed, in disbelief.
Then Joey placed his other card down in front of himself and announced, "Go! Offensive defensive flip!"
Bonz was stunned to see what was going on! His zombie monsters were starting to disappear, and their attack power went down to zero!
"My zombie's attack power has dropped to zero!" He exclaimed, in disbelief.
"And my Battle Warrior's attack and defense points switched too. See?" Joey taunted.
"Smash those zombie freaks! Ultimate battle fist!" Joey commanded his monster, before it went to attack Bonz's zombie monsters.
Bonz's life points now went down to zero, and he was dejected, "How could I lose?"
"All right!" Tristan cheered, happily!
"Joey, you won!" Tea called out to Joey, happily.
"I knew you could do it!" Jill chimed in, happier than ever.
"You did it, Joey!" Yugi called out, happily.
Joey turned around to face Yugi and gave him a thumbs up with a grin on his face, "I did, didn't I?"
Yugi nodded while smiling.
It was then that Joey noticed that Keith was starting to walk, so he called out to him, "Bandit Keith!"
Keith turned his head to face Joey.
"Maybe next time, you'll have the nerve to duel me face to face instead of hiding your creepy flunkies." Joey suggested, strongly.
Keith scoffed and said, "Duel you face to face? You're hopeless, dweeb. A game of Duel Monsters is all about keeping your opponents off balance, winning the duel's all the matters. Not how you go about it."
"We'll just see about that, Bandit Keith." Joey shot back.
Keith laughed and said, "Yeah, right. I'm quivering in fear already, dweeb."
Then he and his men started walking.
"What a jerk!" Tea grumbled, annoyed.
"Tell me about it." Jill agreed.
"Guys, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to drag you all into this mess." Joey apologized to the gang, sorrowfully.
"Next time, don't be in such a big hurry to run off on your own!" Tristan retorted, smartly.
"Eh, it's alright. We know that it wasn't your fault, Joey." Yugi replied to Joey, compassionately.
"Yeah, I mean as long as you won the duel, we can forgive him." Tristan agreed, as he winked.
"I admit you had us worried at first--" Tea began, before Bakura stepped in.
"But you really came through this time." He added.
"Exactly." Jill agreed, as she gave a close-eyed smile.
"I got lucky, that's all." Joey laughed awkwardly, as he sheepishly rubbed his nose with his finger.
"It wasn't luck, Joey." Yugi corrected, which caught Joey's attention.
"It was your determination, your trust in the cards, and the promise you made to your sister. That's what helped you win." Yugi smiled. Joey laughed a bit awkwardly, and he sheepishly put his hand on the back of his head.
Then he glanced at his dueling glove and thought to himself in determination, 'I only need two more star chips. Hang in there, Serenity.'
"So now can we get out of this creepy pit?" Tea spoke up.
"You bet." Tristan replied in agreement, as everyone nodded their heads in agreement as well.
Then they all started walking on their way out as Joey said, "Nothing's gonna stop us now!"
They just all kept walking, and walking, and walking until they suddenly saw a bright light outside, and their faces all brightened!
"Daylight!" Joey exclaimed, before he and the others started to run to the light.
But then something blocked the light...
"Oh no! What's that?!" Joey exclaimed, in disbelief.
"Oh god! I bet it's those fucking assholes trying to keep us in!" Jill bet, completely exasperated. Then she and the others ran towards the rock, and all they did was try to push it forward, but it was too heavy.
"This thing weighs a ton! We can't even get it to budge!" Joey exclaimed, as he struggled.
"Push harder! Come on!" Tristan commanded, as he and the others kept trying to push the rock harder.
"Are we really trapped in here?!" Tea asked, as she struggled.
"Ugh! I swear to God! If I find those assholes again, I'll fucking arrest them!" Jill yelled angrily, as she struggled as well.
