"Prepared to be puzzled." The guy in orange, who was known as Para, taunted.
"Prepare to be fooled." The guy in green, who was known as Dox, chimed in.
"Prepare to be baffled, for on this field, we rule!" They both stated together.
"I'm gonna baffle the two of em if they don't stop rhymin'." Joey rolled his eyes.
Para snickered and said, "Enough of your quips."
"Yes! Time to wager star chips!" Dox agreed, boldly.
Joey growled as he removed his star chips from his dueling glove and placed them down in front of himself.
"I'll throw down two." He stated.
Yami held up his star chips between his spread fingers and said, "Plus four more, for a total of six."
"Agreed!" Both the Paradox brothers replied at the same time.
Yami smiled and eyed Joey as he said to him, "This is it, Joey. If we play our cards right, we'll both have enough star chips to gain entrance into the castle. Then we can finally confront Pegasus."
"Right." Joey smiled back, in determination.
Para laughed and said, "You fool, that's why Pegasus pays my brother and me--"
Dox finished for his brother, "To keep you from achieving victory!"
"God, I really hate the way they're talking!" Jill sighed in frustration, as she facepalmed. The way each brother would start talking and the other brother would finish was just really giving her a headache.
"Ok, guys. Teamwork from here on out!" Tea called out to the guys.
"Right! We'll be the team, you do the work!" Tristan chimed in.
"We believe in you guys!" Jill chimed in as well.
"Good luck." Bakura told them, before the duel began.
"Quiet, fools! Time to duel!" Both brothers taunted together, before Dox took out two of his cards.
"First turn honors are mine!" He stated, before he placed one of the cards down in front of himself and called out to his first monster.
"Labyrinth Wall!" He announced. Yami was getting tense.
'Huh? Why would he play that card? It doesn't even have any attack points!' He thought to himself.
Dox laughed as the entire field began to flow. Both Tea and Jill were shocked at the sight.
"What's that?" Bakura inquired.
Something caught Tristan's eyes, "Look, the floor! Something's comin' out of it!"
The floor of the duel arena had switched from its normal card grid to a grid of squares, and walls were sprouting up between certain squares. Both Yami and Joey watched uneasily.
"Strike that. A whole bunch of things are coming out of it." Tristan commented in awe, before the Labyrinth had finally appeared on the field.
"A maze!" Yami exclaimed, in awe.
"Quite right. And unless you can navigate it correctly, you'll be lost in its passageways forever." Dox taunted, before his brother chimed in with him and they both talked simultaneously.
"Now no more questions, no more stalls! Make your move, the labyrinth calls!"
"Make your move. Go!" Para encouraged.
"Now! Go! Now!" Dox chimed in, as he overlapped.
"Now! Go! Now!" Para overlapped as well.
"Hold your horses already! We don't even know how this 'tag-team' works." Joey said, slightly annoyed. Para held a mischievous grin on his face.
"It's simple, we all start with 2000 life points like any duel. However, if just one Duelist loses those 2000, then his teammate loses with him." Dox instructed, smugly.
Joey turned to face Yami and thought to himself, 'Man, Yugi's puttin' a lot of faith in me. I can't let him down.'
"The players on each team will alternate turns with every passing round. It is simple, I will play, then Yugi, then my brother, then Joey, then back to me! Now, as for the actual gameplay in the Labyrinth arena, it too is quite simple: All monsters you summon during this match will act like pieces on a game board. As for moving, each monster can move the number of spaces equal to its power level. And while your game pieces are moving, ours will be moving too! Finally, if you somehow manage to get past our creatures, and find your way through the maze, your reward will be a choice of two doors." Para instructed.
Yami growled to himself...
"Select the correct door, and find the path to freedom and fresh air!" Dox announced.
"Select the wrong door, and find only despair!" Para chimed in.
Joey was fed up, "I've had just enough of all your lame-brain rhymin'! And what do you mean "one door leads to despair"? And that's not fair!"
The two brothers grinned at Joey's anger and said together, "Ok, then."
"We'll give you a clue, while everything one of us tells you shall be true--" Para started.
"The other will speak nothing but lies to you!" Dox finished.
Both Tea and Jill were shocked!
'Truths and lies? What are they talking about?' Yami thought to himself, tensely.
"From this point forward, one of us will speak nothing but the total truth." Para stated.
"And the other will speak everything but the truth." Dox chimed in.
"So you see, it is quite simple."
"To learn which of the two is the right door--"
"You have only to ask nothing more."
Para laughed until Yami suddenly interrupted him, "Wait!"
Para stopped laughing and looked a bit impatient.
"What if you're lying to me right now?" Yami asked, boldly.
"No! I never lie!" Dox persisted.
Yami then looked at one of the doors intently.
"Don't be fooled. My door is most certainly the door that will guarantee you're freed!" Para stated.
"Liar! Mine is the door that'll grant safe passage, if they'd only heed!" Dox snapped.
"Hm, just like the movie Labyrinth." Jill commented, as she folded her arms.
Joey thought to himself for a moment, 'Wait a sec! This sounds like an old riddle I know. Sure, the liar, the truth-teller, the choosin' between two directions, but how'd the rest of it go?'
Then he took a moment to think of how one person tells the truth, and how one person lies... Then it hit him!
"Hey, Yugi. I think I know this riddle. It starts with a fork in the road. Check this out: There's this kid tryin' to get to the village of truth-tellers. Thing is, there's a village of liars right next to it. The key doesn't know which way to go, so he asks a villager for directions. But he doesn't know if the villager's truthvile, or liarsburg. So the villager guy says he'll answer one question, that's the riddle: What should the kid ask to get to truthville?"
