It was Friday at 15:20 as the students sit in their college lecture halls awaiting the clock to hit the half hour mark so spring break would begin. Billy was sitting next to Maddie as he texted her on the phone to see if they were still going to get dinner after class ended. Maddie looked at him and smiled as he looked down to respond to the text he had just received from her. The text read, "I'm going out with Emma to get coffee.". He responded with a quick text saying he could bring along James and make it a double date. She had no opposition to the proposal so class let out and they met Emma and James in the hall. They all went to the local Starbucks and they got there usual. While drinking their coffees the group of friends realized that none of them had plans for spring break. After an hour long coffee break they had came to the conclusion that the were going to go to Panama City, Florida. The now spring breakers set out to their dorms to pack their bags to set out for Panama City. With all of them ready they all piled into Billy's Mazda CX-5 and set out on the road. They hoped on I-75 S from Morehead, KY (where they all attended Morehead State) and began driving for the 11 hour trip. They left at 18:15 so it was clear that they was going to have to stop for the night along the way somewhere. As they were driving they had realized that there GPS was going to take them through Knoxville, TN. They decided to stop and spend the next day there in Knoxville. They got reservations to stay at the Blackberry Farm in Knoxville which was a 5 star resort and spa. Billy yelled over to James, "Grab my bag while you're at it". James smirked and grabbed it anyways. The girls had already found thee way into the spa and made all the boys do the unpacking. Settled in the boys started to read what all was going on at The Farm. They had found that they had stopped at an amazing place to be for spring break. They headed to the spa where they had to run the girls out. They all got back to the room and into their pj's. The boys had talked the girls into staying for the weekend and they said they would leave Sunday afternoon. Their Saturday was packed full of fun and interesting things to do. The girls woke up at 8 in the morning just to be the first ones at the spa. As they were leaving Billy rolled out of the bed to get on his hiking boots while James was still sound asleep. Billy started to wake up James when James sat up and scared him. They sat out at 8:30 to go hiking. They were gonna be hiking till 12:00 and planned to meet Maddie and Emma for lunch. Which the girls finished their spa session around 10:15. With nothing to do the girls sat out to find where the horses were so the could go for a ride before lunch. They finally found the horses after a 30 minute walk across the grounds of the farm. They rode for about 30 minutes then went back to their rooms to shower. They left there rooms, heading straight for the diner of the Farm. The boys were their waiting, already seated at a table for 4. They all started with the Grilled Baguette and anxiously awaited their main plates. Billy got the Smoked Brisket Sandwich, James ordered the Blackberry Farm Burger, and Maddie and Emma both had the Field Green Salad. They enjoyed their lunch together and Billy (crushing on Maddie) had a bouquet of roses delivered to her right after lunch. Maddie was so embarrassed and happy she ran to find him in his room getting ready to go shoot Archery. She hugged him and thanked him for the flowers as James and Emma walked into the room. "All look how sweet" said Emma. James laughed and added "Might as well be a couple". Blushing Maddie looked at Billy. Billy smiled and popped the question. Maddie of course said yes and they all went off to shoot Archery until dinner time. The all got back to their rooms and got fancied up for dinner as they heard that the owner of the Farm was going to be their. They all sat out for dinner "In The Barn" and it began to lightly rain. They got their and surprisingly all ordered the same thing, Painted Hills Beef Flat Iron Steak. The owner addressed all in attendance by thanking them for staying at the Farm. They got back to their rooms after dinner and began packing to set out for Panama City. Early the next morning they got up to finish packing so they could leave by 11. They got on the road and everyone but Emma, who was driving, feel asleep. Emma was listening to music as she drove the last 8 hours of the trip. They arrived around 7:30 and got comfortable in their hotel. They had sat out on this trip for fun but it suddenly became something very different than what they expected it to be. Waking up the next morning Emma and James sat off to go to the beach. Billy and Maddie, who were not good morning people, woke up around 9:30 and went to breakfast at McDonald's. While waiting on his McGriddle, Billy received a call from James telling him to turn on the news. Billy went to the front counter and requested that they tune the television to the news channel. On the news, he saw that there had been a global conflict that was leading to Nuclear War and that nukes were already in place to be launched. Luckily Maddie's Uncle lived in Panama and was a doomsday prepper so they rushed over to his bunker where they seeked refuge. They knew that it was real because no sooner than they got into the bunker they heard the first bomb drop. They knew that it was the end of their lively world as they knew it. Realizing that they were the last 4 people in the area still alive, they had to figure out a plan to live.
