Meanwhile, the duel kept going on. The Gate Guardian was gathering power, and all of it was aimed right at the Flame Swordsman.
"This is one lightnin' storm I don't think my Swordsman's gonna weather!" Joey exclaimed, before he turned to Yami.
"If ya got any bright ideas, now's the time."
Yami gritted his teeth, getting frustrated that he didn't know what to do anymore.
"Gate Guardian, Thunder stroke Attack!" Para commanded his monster, before the attack was going towards the Flame Swordsman.
Joey couldn't stand the light, so he looked away, "Ahh! Can't look!"
With that, the attack hit the Flame Swordsman, and he was destroyed for good!
"Ha! Now you see, our Gate Guardian conquers all!" Para taunted.
Yami snarled and said, "Not this turn!"
Para was confused, "Huh?!"
Yami picked up one of his facedown cards and presented it as he had a grin on his face... It was the Mirror Force!
"Unless he's not affected by traps! Mirror Force, reflect his attack!" Yami taunted.
It was then that the Flame Swordsman didn't actually get hit. A prismatic barrier stopped the attack just short of him, and was bouncing it back whence it came.
"All right!!" Joey exclaimed happily, as he knew he was getting his hopes up!
"Gate Guardian, defend! Squall Barricade!" Para commanded his monster, before the center portion Kazejin puffed up its cheeks and blew a might wind, deflecting the energy of the attack.
Both the brothers snickered to themselves.
"Our monster's not felled!" Para taunted, satisfyingly.
"You've been repelled!" Dox chimed in.
Yami snickered and said, "Yes, but your Guardian has deflected my attack right at your Monster Tamer!"
Both the brothers were shaken by now! The Mirror Force blast hit the Monster Tamer and obliterated him!
"You've destroyed your own monster." Yami stated, satisfyingly.
Para's life points went down to 900, but Dox's stayed at 1600.
"Lucky move!" Dox commented.
Yami turned and shared a smile with Joey. Yami's life points were 800, and Joey's was 1600.
"Way to play, fellas. Keep it up and we'll be outta these musty old caves in no time!" Tea called out to the guys, proudly.
"You got it, Tea!" Joey winked, before he turned to the front since he knew it was now his turn.
"All right, now it's my turn!" He announced.
"Wait a minute, Joey! Don't make your move just yet." Yami eased, which made Joey confused.
"Look at the Gate Guardian. It was created by combining three different monsters, right?" Yami asked, as he gestured to the Gate Guardian.
"So?" Joey shrugged.
"So, that may be our ticket to dismantling him!" Yami answered, confidently.
"Right! Section by section! Okay, then, Flame Swordsman, use Salamandra's magic and attack the midsection!" Joey commanded his monster, before the flame from the Swordsman's sword had a life of its own, forming the front end of itself like the head of a dragon as it lunged forward to attack.
"Attaboy! Scorch him good!" Joey encouraged.
Then all of a sudden, a gush of water poured from the bottom portion, Suijin, creating a wall of water to douse the fire on contact. Both Yami and Joey were dumbfounded.
"You fool! Attack one section and the others will defend it! You wasted your turn! Now my Guardian will lay waste to you! Tidal Surge Attack!" Dox taunted, as the water kept gushing, and Suijin was spraying it into the maze corridors, flooding around the Magical Hats and sweeping toward Flame Swordsman!
Joey snarled in anger at the sight.
"Oh, my." Bakura whispered to himself, which caught Tristan, Tea, and Jill's attentions.
"Dox is using the water elemental section of his Gate Guardian to flush out the entire maze. Everything in its path will be attacked. The mystic properties of the magic hats will protect the Magician, but I'm afraid Joey's Swordsman won't be as lucky." Bakura explained to the trio observantly, as he was getting a little exasperated.
It was then that the flood hit the Flame Swordsman, dragging him back a few paces before he went under and shattered from the field. With that, the Paradox brothers showed off their Karate moves again.
"We have taken the lead!" Dox taunted.
"For now!" Joey glared.
Both the brothers laughed as each of their life points held 900 and 1600. Joey's life points held 1300, and Yami's held 800.
The maze field was now a few inches deep in water.
"Your Gate Guardian may have dampened the field, but not our spirits! For my turn I lay this card facedown, and, I call upon the Summoned Skull to finish the job Joey's Flame Swordsman started." Yami taunted, as he placed his Summoned Skull card down in front of himself, and it appeared as Yami had requested it to.
Both the brothers smirked.
"Ohh, you must be joking!" Para scoffed.
"That swordsman started nothing before he left choking!" Dox agreed, before he and his brother laughed together.
"Hmph, that's not quite true. If it weren't for him, the stage wouldn't be set for my Summoned Skull's attack!" Yami scoffed in reply, which made the brothers shocked as hell!
"The water! Yugi's gonna use it as a conductor for an electrical attack!" Tristan exclaimed, in realization.
Every passage of the maze was flooded, and the brothers were worried!
"Summoned Skull! Lightning Strike!" Yami commanded his monster, before the electricity hopped across the surface of the water around every turn.
"The water's actually guiding the attack!" Tea exclaimed, observantly.
"Right, and water conducts electricity!" Jill replied to Tea, in agreement.
"Payback time!" Joey announced proudly, as the electricity kept going.
"Not yet! You may have found a watery trail leading back to our Guardian, but you have yet to breach his defenses! Defenses that we activate now!" Dox taunted, but the Gate Guardian didn't respond. Both the brothers were getting freaked out.
"Uh, what's wrong?" Dox questioned, nervously.
"What's wrong is that by flooding the whole field with your Tidal Surge, you attacked my Magical Hats." Yami answered smugly, before he reached for a facedown card.
"And hidden underneath one of them, was a trap." He continued, which made Dox shocked.
"What?!" He exclaimed, in disbelief.
Yami showed the trap, and it was the Spellbinding Circle!
"A trap that immobilizes your Guardian and leaves him powerless to defend himself." He explained, tauntingly.
"No!! My Gate Guardian!" Dox exclaimed, in disbelief.
"Ensnared by my Spellbinding Circle, and seven hundred defense points weaker because of it!" Yami added, before the circle appeared around the Gate Guardian's middle. The lighting struck Sujin, and the Gate Guardian's legs and hips.
"Leaving Suijin, your guardian's water elemental, quite vulnerable to my electrical attack!"
With that, Suijin shattered, leaving the Gate Guardian's middle and torso hovering in the air.
"One section down, two to go!" Yami announced, proudly.
"Way to go, Yug!" Joey complimented his friend.
Para had 900 life points left, Dox's went down to 900, Yugi had 800, and Joey had 1300.
"We'll have this ugly lug chopped down to size in no time!" Joey assured, proudly.
"That's the way to do it, Yugi!" Tea cheered happily, as she jumped up and down.
"Yeah! Go!" Tristan cheered as well. Jill just whistled in celebration.
