It's funny.
How the darkness doesn't scare her but the silence makes her shiver.

She should be used to this, the silence. It's nothing new to her. However she always seemed to have some type of sound around her.

But not now, not at this very moment.

The storm had knocked out the power and she was saving her phone's battery for emergencies. But she couldn't help and think about distracting herself with her phone, maybe she could just use up 10%. Maybe in that time she'd be sleep. No. She really did need to save her battery and she didn't want to take any chances, she knew that 10% would turn into, 20 and that 20 would turn into 30.

So for now, all she'd have to distract her was the wall in front of her. It's brick, unlike the other 2 walls which were a light baby blue. Her new surroundings were aesthetic and new, she had just moved there that day, so their wasn't much detail in her surroundings, just boxes. After all she arrived at midnight and was exhausted.

Slowly her mind drifted into her new job. It paid good enough and she didn't have a problem with what she was going to do but she prayed that she wouldn't have to do anything too extreme, like shove the snow off of the roof. Her assumption was that rich people were particular about how they liked things and although she wasn't wrong, these rich people weren't that particular.

They didn't mind the snow on their roof, but she didn't know that.

She shifted onto her other side and was met with the other brick wall. In the back of her mind she was waiting for a firefly to squeeze in between the cracks and fly around her room. But that wasn't going to happen, unlike her last home, her new home was more secured and modified. The brick stone apartment was only 12 years old but it barely showed.

She continued to wonder on about the specific tasks they had planned for her, maybe she'd be a library help...maybe she'd be an teachers assistant, although she wasn't really qualified for a job like that. The most she'd do is write names on the board.

Ping

Her phone gave off its signature notification sound.
She got an text message.

She turned onto her back and grabbed her phone off of the nightstand beside her. Placing her thumb on the home button, she pressed down and tapped the message icon.

Her half-lidded eyes scanned over the words sent to her in three paragraphs.

She scanned over the message twice before glancing at the top of the screen.

75%

She held the power button for 3 seconds and slide the power icon. She then placed it back on the nightstand and rolled back over onto her right side, not thinking much of the message.

She glanced over the paper once more as she repeated her words again.
