CARTER BRAXTON SERGEANT (ALLIENCE MARINE CORPS)

CAMP INHERITOR, SOUTH CAROLINA, NORTH AMERICA

JANUARY //29//2186 (FOUR MONTHS AGO)

---------------

Carter awoke, are filled his lungs. His eyes darted around the room. He breathed in again. The room smelled of medicine. The area around him was white. A man entered the room he couldn't have been older than thirty. stress marks under his eyes indicated a lack of sleep. Carter looked at the man's left shoulder he was a captain. Carter snapped to attention. the man walked around him once, twice before he spoke.

"Carter Braxton, age twenty five, sergeant in The System's Alliance Marine Corps", The man said in a grave tone.

"Yes Sir!", Carter responded immediately.

"Your father searved in the Skyllian Blitz on Elysium", the captain continued "Mother was an ensign on the Council Defending fleet durring the Eden Prime war. Both of them recorded KIA."

The man was testing him. he was trying to upset him. Carter shoved the emotional thoughts to the back of his mind and nodded.

The man turned and faced him," Welcome to the Inheritor Project Cadet Braxton we'll be puting you in a squad within the hour"

THREE MONTHS LATER

----------

Carter and his squad stood in fomation inside of their barracks. A commander walked into the small dormitory and looked them up and down he approached the first cadet in the line.

"Corporal John Hammend, biotic specialist code name Adept." Stated the commander. John nodded, and the commander moved to the next cadet

"Staff Sergeant Brandon Mace, biotic specialist code name Infiltrater"

It seamed as though the commander was naming off a roster. Carter moved his eyes slightly in the man's direction, he was definitely naming off a roster as a data pad was in his hand. He tapped a few words on the data pad and moved on to the next cadet.

"Lance Corporal Cal Marie, biotic specialist code name sentinel"

A tremmor of anxiety triggered in the back of his mind. What was his specialization? He'd been studdying up on Vanguard it seamed like the most interesting to him. He was next, the man typed in a few words and moved onto him.

"Sergeant First Class Carter Braxton, biotic specialist code name", this was it he could be the first official Vanguard. He crossed his fingers in his mind,"Vanguard". The man typed a few words on his data pad and looked up.

"Detachment, atten-hut!", The commander bellowed. The four of them remained at their current state. "Right, Face!", the four of them turned in cadence. "File it down to the biotic hall from the right forward." the commander called "Forward." Carter called over his right shoulder. "March".

The squad marched out of the building marched down a path leading to a massive complex that read "Biotic R&D" over the entrance. the team entered through the hatchway and down a large corridor. Carter peered left in the small amount of his vision that was accessible. An Alliance soldier sat on an examination table and was moved into a small room. The room glowed for and instance and then the soldier walked out, a slight glowing sensation was around his body.

"Maritime March!", The commander bellowed. The squad marched in place, "Ready! Halt" the squad stopped dead in their tracks. "Fallout to you're appropriate areas" Carter moved away from the squad towards the Vanguard Specialist room. He walked through the hatch and was greeted by a woman. A Lieutenant according to the ranks on her collar. She looked at Carter's uniform and beckoned for him to follow her.

Carter entered a room, almost identical to the room he had seen the Alliance soldier in. The Lt. guided him to a much smaller looking room. The walls around him glowed as his body was introduced to element zero. An aura began to glow around his body, he felt a warmth engulf him an unnerving sense of power entered his mind.

The room dimmed as the remaining element zero flushed through the air and into his body after a couple of minutes the walls returned to the flush black color. The hatch opened up and he walked back into the first room. The Lt. still held her datapad. Carter could tell that his biosigns were being projected because of the inversed image on the datapad. The aura around his body glowed a faint blue and deepened into a dark royal blue.
