This is your new writer, Finley Dax! I fully realize that I can't catch all my mistakes in my writing, so if you could ignore them that would be just great! :) I don't own any of the StarTrek characters or such. And this is my first time writing on this platform, so it may not be very good. Hope you enjoy                                                                                                                                                                                                       -Finn

Stepping through the gate out of Starfleet Academy's gardens was James Niter. His journey through Starfleet Academy had been one he would never forget. His assignment was a postion on Deep Space Nine, and he was set and ready to go in nine days time, with his best friend, William T. Riker.

Deep Space Nine was said to be a mysterious place, full of many kinds of people, and danger, lots of it. James was true to the words he spoke to Will on his first day at the Academy, 'I want to be assigned a dangerous mission, that would be the chance of a lifetime'. And in nine days, he and Will would be on their way to one the most dangerous places in the sector, where if the Dominion invades, all hope will rest on DS9.

James was a tall man, with dark brown hair and a beard, just like his counterpart, Will Riker. He wore a dark red ensigns uniform with a tan bag, slung across his body. He was very proud of the changes that he had made to his mannerisms and his body over the six years spent at the Academy. Overall, he loves what it had done to him. And over the years, he never passed up an opportunity to work the hardest, go the furthest, do the most. He had decided that this was the day he would go back home, collect his things and spend those nine days with his parents, which he hadn't seen in six years, even though he had had many opportunities to.

As James strode across the stretch of green between Starfleet Academy and the transporters he spotted his best friend. Will Riker.

As Will turned towards him, he shouted, "Hey Jam! When do you want me to pick you up for the U.S.S. Voyager's flight to DS9?"

"I'll call you to tell you, maybe even let you visit!" James responded.

"How kind you are, King Jam, I could only wish for such a kind ruler, see you then!", was the teasing, sarcastic response.

James waved as he stepped on the transporter and said, "Parallel Gardens please," And the transporter whisked him away.

Parallel Gardens was the neighborhood where his parents lived, one of the medium-upper class places to live. It was filled with older couples whose children had moved out years ago, and that included him. As he walked down the streets something serious was on his mind. 'It's been six years, and even though I've had the opportunity, I haven't gone back. How will they react? I've changed so much, will they even recognize me?' Much of this rested upon one fact, he was transgender.
