Not Awake

What woke up Dan was very scary. No matter how you look it, it was pretty much the scariest thing ever.

"DAN MCCALL! THE BUS IS LEAVING IN HALF AN HOUR!" The voice of the very angry Literature teacher screamed at the poor girl.

"Mr. Walker? Stop calling me," she whined. "Wait, half an hour? WHERE ARE YOU?"

"On the bus."

"Yeah, but where's the bus?"

"Beacon Hills' central bus station."

"I'll be there in twenty minutes. Please don't drive off." Dan begged, pushing off the bed.

"Did I wake yo up?" Mr. Walker asked, his British accent leaking through the phone.

"Yeah, kinda," she admitted. "Now can you please hang off so I can get dressed?" she laughed.

"Okay, but don't take too long. Loads of mid- schooler. Noisy mid-schooler." Dan laughed.

"Bye Joshua," she warned, hanging off. She sighed, thanking God for taking a shower the night before.

There she was, hoping to get a chance to take another shower, but of course that life is being a bitch to Danielle McCall.

She quickly threw on a black hoodie and a pair of short jeans with her worn out black Vans, hurrying downstairs, where her duffle bag and two suitcases were waiting already.

"Dan?" Scott- her little brother- and his best friend- Stiles, sat around the table, eating breakfast. Well, cereals and milk. "Wha- Are you late again?"

"Yeah! No time, Stiles, I  need a ride!"

"Su- sure," Stiles agreed, standing up.

"You should grab something to eat." Scott reminded her of their mother's words.

"Uh, yeah..." she quickly ran to the fridge, before closing the door and instead taking Doritos. "Okay, let's go before I'd have to pay for a flight there."

"You're late," Mr. Walker announced, helping her with her stuff.

"Sorry, I totally forgot to set the alarm and-"

"Yeah, I know the story," he laughed, giving her half a smile.

"May I say goodbye to my brother?" she asked sheepishly.

"Yeah, the mid-schoolers went to pee," he stated, rolling his eyes. Dan smiled at him, eye contact lingering for a moment too long.

"Goodbye... my brother," Dan stammered, quickly turning away from the piercing blue eyes of her teacher. She walked to the two friends that were leaning on the jeep. Stiles' good ol' jeep.

Well, not exactly good and more of a junk.

But Scott and Stiles grew to love it.

Dan engulfed her brother in a hug. "Kick ass in Lacrosse-" Stiles laughed at that. "You too, Stiles. Show 'em how you sit on a bench like a champ. Don't get into too much troubles. And Stiles-" she looked up from her brother's shoulder, "don't listen in to too many of your father's calls. He's the sheriff and honestly, I'm embarrassed for him for the amount of places you pop in and shouldn't."

"I promise I'll do my best," Stiles said, though it was obvious that none of them really thought it would last.

"Now come here, bro," Dan smiled, hugging Stiles.

Once Dan left the town for most of the year, her childhood friends didn't stay in contact so she was left with only her brother and his friends. And Scott had only one guy that he could count as a friend; Stiles.

"Keep my brother safe," she whispered in his ear as he hugged her. "And don't get in trouble. I don't wanna come back at Christmas or at the summer and find out you guys got kicked out of school."

"Dan, relax." Stiles assured, "we'll be fine, like we always have been."

"Ok."

"Ok."

And with that, Dan climbed the stairs to the bus.

"Wanna sit next to me?" Mr. Walker asked, and Dan smiled, nodding. They sat in silence for a moment, before a random new kid yelled "BITCH PLEASE, YOU LOVE MY DICK!"

Josh and Dan exchanged a look, before bursting out with laughter.

"I missed this school," Dan admitted.

"I did too."
