The Past and its Effects (old)

Hey guys...2 years huh?

Hey everyone! If you're reading this update, it probably means you're still following me after all these years (damn, didn't know I still had followers >~< y'all are loyal) or you still have this trash book in your library. (also, wow this thing was a literal hellfire)

I am now in the process of rewriting this book. Yay! However, I will no longer have Laura and Nathaniel as the main characters. I've realized over the years that I, an awkward hopeless romantic of a homosexual, cannot write hetero romance properly, or give a hetero relationship the beauty it deserves. I will always cherish Laura and Nathaniel in my heart, and for those who still remember them, I may have them as brief cameo characters in the book.

As for what this book will now be about, well... not much has changed. The main skeleton of the plot is still intact, the only thing I'm changing are the characters and situations. I'm starting to use less stereotypes and thinking through the logic of the world we live in so I can write accurate and relatable content. I have to admit some of the scenes I did write for the old version of this book were absolute trash. A great example of this was the beat up/hospital scene with Laura and Nathaniel, which to be honest, would never happen in a heavily monitored school environment.

This book will now be about Amara and Leah. Yes, they are both female, yes, they're both LGBT+ in some way, and yes, they will have more emotions, independent ideas, and personality than Laura and Nathaniel. Unlike Laura and Nathaniel, they'll be fleshed out and humanized as much as my writing abilities allow.

Hopefully, most of you will stay with me throughout this writing process and the periods between chapters, which I'm expecting to be at least a month. It's not easy to write 2,500-3,500 words in a month while being a sophomore in High School, taking AP classes and preparing for a career in medicine, but I'm determined to finally get this out. I'll write when I can, take breaks when needed, and try my best to successfully start, and finish, this book.
