Attacked!

White with splashes of red...

Those were the only colors Son saw in his dream. He had been having them every night now and they were eerie. There was no sound. There was only light and and then a sharp pain before splashes of red and Son would wake up, startled by the phantom pain and the sharp colour.

This is a warning! Heed it!

Already awake, Sonnet would climb out of bed and set and read. Usually he would fall asleep again on the chair and be found there in the mornings. Sometimes if the had a particularly bad day, he would climb into the closet and sleep there.

The Robins never understood why he would sleep in there and even though they reported it to Queen Peach, she never gave any explanations. She would just nod and make her way to see Son.

Now that Sonnet's 18th birthday was approaching, the eagle made his presence more pronounced around the castle. He often came with his father who was a member of the royal court. Sonnet would make sure he was never alone with eagle or that he was safe behind a closed door, only forced to listen to the horrible taunts about how much Lucius looked forward to raping him.

What else would you call it when someone described forcing themselves on you and with the hope that you would fight them every step of the way so they could hurt you for their sick pleasure? Oh wait. How about deranged? Don't leave your room Son...

A person's birthday should be something they look forward to, especially with the big celebrations that were being planned and and the happiness of having close friends and family nearby to celebrate with. It shouldn't be the worst day of someone's life. He was going to be 18 years old and on that day, certain announcements were going to be made. The bids for his hand in marriage had already come in 6 months before his birthday and Son had rejected all of them. That left his parents with one option, to pick someone of them.

After all, the sooner he was married, the sooner there would be children.

Now they all sat in one room with himself and Terren, discussing what needed to take place. Terren had so many more options than he did. The man wasn't a splice, a term used for Arian men who could carry young. Son though, was already showing signs of coming into his first heat and the pains he had in his lower abdomen were a sign that he would grow a womb soon. He had another couple of weeks or so before the cycle began. That made it even worse.

"Son's splice nature is a blessing. They are far more successful at carrying and birthing young." his father, Lord Bennet said bluntly through the speech stone.

"But I don't want that to be known, dear. Imagine all the disgusting people who would come out of the woodwork then." Queen Peach stated with a frown.

"But there might be some good options then too. Lord Helsin_"

"Is 60 freaking years old mom. Are you really thinking rationally right now?" Terren burst out as he took in Son's fading colour.

"But he is such a lovely, kind man and he has no children."

The more they spoke, the more frustrated and hurt Son felt. He was right there. They simply had to ask his opinion and he would give it. Being talked about to his face was as disrespectful as one can get. Terren had already pointed it out to them twice.

When talks turned to his first night, the young man felt he had reached his limit.

"I feel like my virginity is being sold to the highest bidder for the sake of the kingdom!" He burst out so suddenly that everyone went silent in shock. Sonnet used the chance and stood, heading to the door. He really couldn't deal with this right now.
