It’s cold. I can feel the crunching of the snow under my feet. I can hear her voice floating around in my head haunting me. I make it to the stone and my knees give way. I can see her looking over at me with a smile. I blink and she’s replaced with the falling snow. I fall onto my hands and her name is the only thing that fills my vision. It doesn’t matter. All I can truly see is all the times I spent with her. All I can hear is the echo of her laughter. All I can feel is the shadow of warmth from her body pressed against mine.
She is glaring at me while I make a bad joke… her face is blushing in the soft light at our favourite restaurant… She smells like flowers while I am over her shoulder helping her do her homework… I can hear her laughing as I make another joke… From my knees, I can see the surprise on her face when she looks at the ring… Her beautiful face while she walks down the aisle to me… The way she looked while holding our beautiful baby… The pride on her face when all our kids graduated…
She is gone now. She’s never coming back. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. I wish I held her in those last moments before death took her. If you can hear me….“I love you”
