A silent wind pushed through the vast land of greenery, trees swayed and rattled and bushes let flower petals flicker in the wind. The sky was painted a calming evening blue dipped with soft puffy clouds that seemed to move with the wind just as everything else was.
Though one thing didn't seem to be influenced by the wind, and that was a boy, a almost 4 foot tall boy with deep emerald eyes and soft maple hair.
He would be briskly exploring the vast plains of the forest, weaving ever so slowly through the grass and leaves littering the ground below the trees. And every step he took deeper into the forest imprinted a small smile on his face, even if it was just for a little while until a older feminine voice called out for him. And he knew just by being called by his name it was time too head home.
"Roman!"The boy took one last gleeful look at the colorful extension of woodlands before spinning around and waddling home, he could already hear and smell those golden biscuits in the oven.
-9 years later-
(First point of view)
"Can't believe they did this-" I bite my lip watching as my childhood home, playground, and all my memory's are being shredded for piles of cider and lumber...
Large machine like walkers all glazed golden were stomping and sawing through the once green homeland I knew. And replacing each tree and colorful shrubs were smoke and ash. Two mechanically motored walkers rotated their claws too evenly snatch up and grip a stack of fresh chopped lumber before wandering off toward a cargo truck."Ay~ Kiddo I know your upset but.." my fathers voice spoke.
"But we needed the money, we were broke as if and we couldn't let this deal slide. Alright..? I really am sorry, your mother wanted too talk too you too but she just couldn't make it as she was already late for work."I dropped my head and nodded before gently smoothing out the crisps in my jacket.
"I know that- But.."
Dad put his hand on my shoulder letting a small etched and broken smile emerge.
"Im upset too, but now is not the time. You still need to put in the last 8 hours of your schooling career budd."I sighed nodding again trying to mask the brief redness in my eyes before adjusting my silky blue pack over my shoulder. Out of all the days this had too happen why couldn't it have been when it was the bleakest of times like october when the beauty of the forest had already been shaken clean.
I nod again looking back at the scene, still busy at work and still abolishing the forests bit by bit. I bite my lip and pull away as I began too walk too school.
About fifteen minutes later I arrived at the steps of bullstone high, the finest of all high schools they say. Though it was the same as any old highschool filled with the corrupted the neutral and the good, but one can like to think that its fun going too class too class. I took a breath of fresh air letting the wet muggy air fill my lungs before I stepped through the glass doors leading into a colorful yet bleak hallway, a few teachers sat on some chairs too the right of the doors and too the left the same annoying Mascot.
A iron bull with a key chained lock around its neck, so petty and stupid I use too think. But today was finally the end of this horrid continuous and uneventful life. First period toned in as I took my seat at my desk placing my books on my desk, a pencil wedged in between a held spot in my blue scholastic notebook as a bookmark.
I sighed as our first period teacher slowly called role, a hand raising with every name called out untill the familiar name came which I instinctively called out here too and rose my hand before slumping back onto my desk."Page three forty please class~"
Lunch finally set in which was usually the most exciting period of the day, I took my tray too a empty table near the teachers like a good lil suck up.
"Roman the heck man, why so glum? And quite frankly not yourself?"
Peter, yes, the number one brainiac in our school. He wore his usual green terricot button up shirt and blue jeans topped off with his special(as well as favorite) Colonial Streaked glasses.
"Wheres Baker?" I murmur lifting his head a little so I could stare up at Peter as he sat down across from my seat.
"Sick I think.." he replys rolling his eyes as I evaded the question.
"Skipping classes..great way too end the final day of the year." I state before sitting up and opening up my carton of milk.
"I know right, I can't see what and why he'd ditch today."
Peter sighed, bringing his carton of milk too his lips chugging the carton empty in a few seconds before closing it up and setting it back on his tray to wipe his lips.
"He told me he had as surprise for us- something about 'Ill be back with a deal of a life time'."
I scoff beginning too eat, slowly cleaning my tray. Peter would pull out his phone after eating and began typing at some reply or something, he occasionally looked up at me who was just staring at him. He'd finally shrug before shoving his phone back into his pocket.
The bell toned as the cafeteria began too lump together too dump their trays before heading back too class.
"See ya after 5th period!" Peter says as he made his way toward class.
"Yeah.. See ya there.." I say with a sigh.
The second too last bell rang as I left 6th period too grab my books and bag, before heading too our final class period.
But as I suddenly stop my gaze is focusing on a tall glossy blond haired girl, who was none other than the beloved Charlotte I have been crushing on for the past two school years. Sure I had dated others yet each time with someone other than her seemed bleak and hopeless.
I dunno if it was her slim, exasperating body or her soft beautiful voice that stole my interest. Can't say for sure other than she was now flashing her crisp smooth hair at me and calling me over."Can you help me?"
I never even thought she'd talk too me nether the less ask me for help, as so I was speechless.
"Seriously please? I need too get to class and-"
I give her a reassuring nod before walking over toward her locker.
"What's your combination?" I ask though she rolled her eyes at my assumption.
"That's not the problem. I put my combination in and it just doesn't open. Talk about frustrating."
You tell me what's frustrating, not being able to open your locker or your being shoulder to shoulder too your two year highschool crush.
Though pushing that aside I instinctively tried opening the locker by pulling the latch up.
Stuck- the latch didn't even lift though I could feel the stress on the lock at the same time. It felt like one of those pencil problems though even aftering checking the latch it seemed more complexed than that.I try forcing the locker open by the latch yet it still doesn't budge. I continue it untill she sighs looking around the halls, clearly given up on me.
There was one finally thing I wanted to try- which was gonna hurt a little, I step back and pull my foot back and kick the lower section of the locker hearing a majestic click and then a clatter, just like Russian machinery.
Charlotte's eyes widen as she opened the locker seeing as her backpack had gotten stuck in the door and shook her head with another sigh.
"There, Should be getting back too class now." I state leaning over to pick up my books.
"Hey before you go-"
I turn around too take one last look at her.
"What's your name?"
I furrow my brow for a second questioning if this was trick, yet my voice instantly and instinctively took over.
"Roman Henderson."
With that I took my eyes off her saving that smile in my memory forever.
