Chapter 11. Listen to Me

Shadow woke up before Crow did. She padded off to hunt for them so there would be prey by the time Crow woke up. Shadow wandered the green forest for prey. It was not hard to find since it was Green-leaf. She caught a vole and a rabbit.

She decided it would be enough for now. As she padded back to the oak tree she heard someone yowling her name. Shadow recognized the voice. It was Crow.

"Shadow!" He sounded like he was in pain. A terrible pain. "Shadow, please!" Shadow dropped the prey and ran towards him. She excepted to see him being attacked or blood around him.

But he was still sleeping. Shadow climbed into the oak tree and saw Crow turning and twitching in his sleep. He stilled shouted her name.

"Crow! Im here. Im here!" She said and she shook him trying to wake him from his nightmare. He wouldnt wake up. It was like he heard her but couldnt wake up.

"Shadow! Where are you!? Please, make it stop!" Crow yowled loudly as tears ran down his cheeks and he kicked his legs. Shadow shook him more and yowled loudly, trying to snap him out of his dream.

Crow's eyes suddenly flew open. His red eyes were full of fear. Crow was suddenly at his feet and leaped at Shadow.

It happened so quickly that Shadow had almost no time to react. He had her pinned down. His eyes were narrowed and dark. He placed his paw on her throat.

"I-I cant breath.... C-Crow listen to.. me." Shadow said, struggling to speak. He looked her in the eye and dug his claws sharp claws into her neck.

She didnt want to hurt him but she would die if he kept his paw at her thoart. Shadow thought of what she was going to do. She scanned the scene carefully. Crow was much stronger so she would need to knock him off his paws. She took her free paw and hit the paw that was pushing onto her throat. This took Crow off guard. She kick his belly with her back legs, kicking him away from her.

She stood up quickly and pinned Crow down by his shoulders. Crow hissed and refused to look her in the eye. He was not himself. He tried to get up but Shadow slammed his shoulders back down.

"Listen to me! Look at me and listen to the sound of my voice!" She said harshly. Crow's red eyes met her silver ones. She narrowed her eyes. Nothing changed. She slammed his shoulders down again.

"You dont want to hurt me! Look at me!" She yowled angrily, her voice was demanding and angry. Crow's eyes and expression softened. He saw Shadow's anger.

"Crow! Answer me." Shadow said, calming her voice and her expression as well. Crow began to look worried. The loving and soft look in his unusual eyes returned and Shadow let go of him.

"S-shadow.. im sorry..." He stood up ignoring the pounding pain in his head.

"Whats wrong with you..." Shadow stepped back from him when he took a step closer to her. Crow noticed this and he became scared that Shadow would run from him.

"I-dont know... Please Shadow. Dont leave me.." He came closer to her and she didnt back away. He rubbed his cheek against hers, lovingly. "I love you, Shadow."

"I love you too, Crow." Shadow whispered and Crow purred.
