Chapter 3

Larry’s other corner of the world.

Larry puffed a smoke as he trailed down his unvisited memory lane since the most tragic happening of his life had struck him. Giah had just mentioned Mr. Richards, her teacher on that field trip, and his wife who was victimized. Little did she knew how damage her words had brought to Larry.

Samuel Richards AKA Sam was another normal high school teacher to anyone, but to him teaching was worship. He worked for the Aston High School since he was 23, a brilliant teacher he was, his classes in the last 3 years had given the school one of its highest results achievements till now. He was 28 then, happily married, lurked in love of his life, his beautiful wife, Kia. Sam had been a nerd throughout his life, but he had a voice to die for and a smile every girl would want to be a reason of. He had a lean body with some unformed muscular bits, slender muscles and a firm chest. He usually was clean-shaved and the sexy formals he wore could unleash the wild side of any girl at the office. His black eyes and hair falling on his forehead, ever so perfectly just complimented his style through and through. Plus, he was a gentleman at heart, the kind who’d open doors for his date and everything, he was such.

As a bottom line, Sam was desirable and every girl at the school and even his colleague teachers had hots* for him, but Sam was different, when he stated love, he actually meant love.

It was 3:40 am when his cell phone started to ring and he woke up on his desk in his study at his home, yes he had passed out at his basement study table working again. His screen flashed his mum’s number, he took the call.

“Samie baby, where are you? I called at your home phone, why wouldn’t you answer? Have you been sleeping at your office desk again! Oh my god, are you on drugs? Baby, are you alright? Are you in a single piece? “His mother squealed in worry from the other side.

“Yeah mum I’m fine, I..Just…er.. Calm down please.”He tried to explain.

“Oh my god, you got me so worried, I raised you better, you shouldn’t worry your old mother like this, I could’ve died of an heart attack in here while you were still passed out at your office table.”She fumbled crying.

“Relax Maa, nothing would happen to either of us, I got to go now. Take care and I love you.” He finished as he disconnected without waiting for a reply.

Yes that was Sam’s mother, always over too worried about him. Mrs. Richards just thought Kia’s work kept her too much at bay to care about her younger son, but Sam knew better, and he loved ‘em both equally. He wasn’t totally lying either when he said he had an important day tomorrow. Sam was to be given an important assignment tomorrow, Principal Crimson had promised him a lifetime opportunity and he was yet to know of it. While he was wondering in his curiosity about all of it, he had passed out at his table only to be woken up by his squealing mother at the other end.

He gathered himself back and forced his body to walk to his room on the first floor inside his two story lavish villa, marking another point for Sam; he had a rich dad and was the only child too. Yet again like almost his everyday routine, he threw himself on his king size double bed after a quick shower, embraced a sleeping Kia in his arms and quickly fell asleep.

When seven years ago Sam had asked his father to let him be a teacher, Mr. S Richards had only one condition that Sam will also take care of their part time business simultaneously. Sam had agreed at that time but he regretted that deeply. Last two years of his life had been miserable of all; he worked at Aston high in the morning and worked till late every night for high GDPs. Yes, miserable was the word, but then it was Sam, all his cousins and friends didn’t call him Superman for nothing. He kept up well, even if that meant no social life or sleep, he did keep up well. His wife was much understanding herself, she knew he had duties towards everything, plus she had her job as well, so she knew how to keep up with things. On weekdays the two hardly saw each other, except at the breakfast table and sleeping into each other at night. However, they were nothing less than wild and free teenagers at the weekends, and maybe that’s what kept their relationship alive, trust, wilderness, understanding and a bit of fights, what’ll end with a kiss, always.

Sam and Kia had been high school sweethearts and had moved in together since college, they both were enough compatible so after all those years of fight and jealousy now, but still looked out enough for each other in way to be looked upon purely as love.

They were like some Hollywood-idealistic-sort of couple, who would make bed teas for each other alternatively and wake up each other with quick kisses, before the lust inside would shoot up much to make both of them late for their work. Yes work was a big problem, managing everything together was too, but the love was just enough always to sail them through, together. To the world it sounded kind of over too cliché living like that, but to them, they knew it was nothing less than a perfect life.

Larry had known both of them since forever; Larry was Sam’s best friend after all. He was like family to him, maybe that’s why this tragedy was just too hard for him to handle when Kia died that night and maybe that’s why he was here this morning instead of working on a ravishing case. He really wanted to know what had gone down, and he knew all that big, it was impossible just for some kids to pull off. And the biggest question, where Sam was, where he had been missing since Kia’s funeral, since last 4 months. Larry was as worried as the Richards were, but he acted strong and ignored the memories, but today at Giah’s mention, he couldn’t stop but walk down that lane again. Couldn’t help but remember how happy Sam sounded when he had heard about Kia’s pregnancy just before that trip, how excited was he to go on it, how important he said it was to him; all of it.

It had been a big question on Larry’s efficiency too for not being able to find out the truth behind this, when it happened to the people so close to him. He had been dealing with it, leaving behind his cocky ways, trying to concentrate on just this and putting himself to the best use for his brother from another mother.

Detective James almost literally jolted Larry back to reality when he had refused to even move on his prior attempts of calling him back. Larry was stunned a bit but quickly composed himself back as he went back inside with James following him. James too understood it wasn’t the right time to question Larry either so he followed quietly.

Giah was now all calm and composed, thanks to James. When Larry and James were all settled down she collected herself back, took a deep breath and started with the story again. She knew now, she could trust them.
