1970, Leigh Park, England
" Well, here we are, family! Our new home. " your father smiled as he left the car, quickly followed by 9-year-old you and your mother. The house was a two-story, painted white, with a beautiful front garden.
" It looks lovely, dear. Don't you think, (Y/N)? " your mother smiled, looking down at you.
You nodded excitedly. " Yes, Mommy! "
" Let's go inside and have a look. " your father suggested and you all agreed. Your parents walked towards the house, but before you could follow them, from the corner of your eye, you saw a boy leaning against a tree, looking at you. He looked around your age, with short dark brown hair. When the boy saw you looking at him, he gasped and ran back to his house, which happened to be next to yours. So, they were your neighbours.
You were confused by the boy's strange behaviour, but shrugged it off. You quickly stepped inside the house after you heard your mother calling you.
Some time later:
After you finished unpacking, you looked around your new room. It was painted (Y/F/C - your favourite colour), on the left side was a wardrobe next to the door, a small desk and chair on the right side of the room, a bed next to the window and a small TV facing the bed. It was a nice room, but it needed a lot of decorating.
You heard a knock on the door, and your mother opened the door.
" Do you need any help, (Y/N)? " she asked.
" No, it's okay, mommy. I can do this myself. "
" Okay, dear. If you need anything, I'll be in the room next to yours. " You nodded and started filling the wardrobe with your clothes. As you were about to grab more, you faced your window and saw the same boy staring at you from the window across yours. You saw the boy stepping back, hoping you didn't see him, but you saw him. You climbed on your bed and sat cross-legged, hoping that the boy would appear again. And he did.
You saw him walk closer to his window and when he saw you, you smiled and waved happily at him. The boy looked shocked for a second, but smiled as well and waved back, a small blush on his cheeks. You giggled and the boy's smile widened. You saw him look back for a second, before looking back at you. He waved at you again before walking away.
Your smile faded and you looked down, feeling sad. You hopped to see him again, you had a feeling you were going to be the best of friends.
After you finished putting your clothes in the wardrobe, you heard your mother calling you from downstairs. You quickly left the room and walk down the stairs, wondering what she wanted. You saw your parents talking to another family. Your mother turned around and saw you.
" There you are, (Y/N)! Come and meet our neighbours! " you quickly walked towards your parents and looked curiously at the family. " This is our daughter, (Y/N). She's 9 years old. "
" You have a beautiful daughter, (Y/M/N). (Y/n), I would like you to meet our son, Roland. He is your age. " the woman smiled warmly as she introduced her son, who was standing in front of her. You recognised him immediately and smiled widely. Roland, in response, smiled back, his cheeks slightly pink.
This surely would be the start of a great friendship.
