Joseph sat in his hospital bed with Meredith in his arms most of the night. I'd take her to change her and nurse her, but then as soon as she was ready to sleep again, he claimed her. He already loved to use the heart attack card, and that trumped all others.

Elliot took time off to spend with his family, and I had to leave my kids and husband and head back to work. For the first time in so long, I was walking back into the precinct and I could actually be on full duty. No more desk duty.

"Hey, Benson!" Fin called, as soon as he saw me walk in. I smiled as I quickly walked to my partner. I pulled him into a hug against his will, but I could care less. Even if I miss my baby, being back to work is going to be beyond amazing. Being able to finally have, hopefully, a normal year with no desk duty or injuries.

"I've missed you so much, Fin! I'm sorry if I'm being really, obnoxious, but I can't help it!" I exclaimed. He smiled as I stepped back and walked over to hug Monique and Brian.

"It's good. We like you better than your husband. Speaking of which, how is Mr. Stabler doing?"

"He's doing good. He is getting up and walking around more. And he was having some numbness in his arms but once they removed two blood clots he has feeling back in them. They say he'll make a full recovery." I smiled, before hearing John's door open. I turned around and he walked towards me with my gun, badge, and handcuffs in his hands.

"Welcome back, Liv. I expect that this will be a less eventful year?" He questioned, and I chuckled as I took my badge and clipped it to my hip.

"God do I hope so."

The first day, Fin and I arrested a man for indecent exposure. We didn't do anything with him, we just sent him to the tombs and that was all that happened. Nothing else, no rapes, kidnaps, or murders. Just one stupid man who thought that a park was a nude beach.

I went home and took care of my kids and then slept.

I did the same thing every day, the crimes we dealt with changed and got worse, but I managed to go home every night to see my kids and my husband. Well, until one night where I was at home and woke up to my phone ringing.

I climbed out of bed, and quickly grabbed my phone and left the room. I didn't want to have 4-month-old Meredith to wake up and to not be able to get her back down for the rest of the night.

"Benson." I yawned into the phone.

"Hey, I'm sorry Liv, but there is a girl here that says she knows you and needs to talk to you. She was mugged and raped, and she just needs someone she trusts." Fin breathed.

"Yeah, okay. Tell her that I'll be there in about twenty minutes. I have to try and get dressed without waking anyone."

"Sorry again." Fin sighed.

"Don't be, I'll see you soon."

When I walked into the precinct, sitting next to my desk was Mary, the young girl I talked to after the foster home was set on fire because her brother 'raped' his girlfriend.

"Mary?" I questioned, and she stood up and ran to me. She clung to me as she sobbed, and I wrapped my arms around her body and held her close.

"What happened?" I whispered.

"I was walking home from the store, my foster mom needed more diapers, and when I was trying to get past a nasty group fo boys they stole my money and raped me. I can't go back there. I can't." She whimpered.

"Okay, come on. Let's sit down and talk about everything you can remember."

"But my foster mom is going to be mad! And I'm only 14 now, and what if she thinks I did it on purpose and I get sent back to juvie? I was scared of it before and I still am!" She sobbed. I reached out and gently wiped a tear from her bruised cheek and gave her a gentle smile.

"Don't you dare worry about that, Mary. I just need you to tell me everything you can remember and we will get these boys. Did you go to the hospital?"

"N-no." She sniffled, and I nodded.

"Okay, well we will take you to the hospital. I need you to do a rape kit and make sure you don't have any broken bones."

"Will you stay with me, Olivia?"

"Of course. I'll stay there with you."

[*]

Mary had a broken rib and many bruises but she wasn't as bad off as most of the doctors had expected. She had been raped, and they managed to pick up several hairs and different fluids. She was given some medicine to help her sleep, and even though she was asleep, I never left her bedside. I had promised her, and I wasn't going to break that promise.

"So, what do we have?" Fin whispered as he walked into the room that Mary was sleeping in. I handed him my notebook and let out a loud yawn.

"She was walking back home to the bad neighborhood her foster home is in, and she was grabbed by a few boys on the corner and gang-raped..." I trailed off, as I kept my voice as quiet as possible.

"Shit. Okay, well I'll go talk to her foster parents. I'll take your husband." Fin spoke.

"Elliot is back?" I questioned. Elliot had taken extended leave, just because he didn't want his parents to have to do everything on their own.

"Yeah. John called him in."

"Oh, okay. Yeah, just be nice, okay?"

"Yeah, I think I can do that, Liv. I'll tell Munch that you are here with her."

[*]

Mary slept for nearly two more hours, and I just sat beside her. I didn't want to leave her for any amount of time. But once she woke up, she looked over the room before seeing me.

"You stayed?"

"Yeah, I promised you, didn't I?"

"I guess... so does my foster mom want me back?" Mary questioned, and I bit my lip.

"No, I'm sorry. But we will find you a place to stay."

"No one wants me!" She exclaimed.

"You can come home and stay with me and my husband," I replied.

"Really?"

"Yeah. We have two little kids, but you will be safe."
