I look out my bedroom window, my backpack in one hand. Sure enough, his van was there on my driveway. I look at the clock: 4:00 on the dot. Well, he definetley knows his timing. I exit the room and rush downstairs.
Once I'm in the passengers seat, I take off my bag and set it beside me. I shiver and rest my hands on the heater.
"I still don't know who in their right mind wants to even swim in this weather. " Anthony recalls as he backs out of the driveway.
"First of all, its an indoor pool." I say.
"But it's still freezing."
"The pool is heated..... Most of the time."
"Most of the time?" he raises an eyebrow.
"Yes, most of the time. Do you even know where you're going?"
He makes a sharp turn before answering. "See for yourself."
I look up and there it is, in front of me: Lake Mary Community Centre. The swimming pools are through those doors.
"How did you--"
"Its on your jacket." He points to the words on the jacket.
"Right..." I say. "Well I'm gonna go. Pick me up around 6:00." I get out of the van and shut the door. Then I begin walking, when I hear footsteps behind me.
"Anthony, why are you following me?" I say, without turning around.
"I'm coming with you."
I turn around. "Aha, no you're not."
"Well where am I supposed to go?"
"I don't know. You don't have anything to do? No errands or anything?"
"Who the hell does stuff at 4:30 in the morning?"
I pause. "Fair point. Hurry up then."
We walk through the door, and immediatley a burst of heat rushes through me. I walk to a bench outside one of the pools, a pane of glass separating it.
"You, stay here and watch. Don't move and don't talk to anyone. And don't take pictures. Please don't take pictures." I instruct him.
"Yes, mother." He takes a seat. I nod, then head off to the change rooms.

"One more lap, Cliff!!" I shout. God, this poor kid is struggling.
Clifford Maxwell is the youngest on the team - 10 years old. Unfortunatley he's also the weakest. I've already recommended to his parents to pull him out, because obviously, he can't handle the stress and isn'tenjoying it. But, his parents just insist that its good for him. UGH!! Parents can be incredibly stupid at times.
Clifford flails around in the water, his legs moving like rubber, his arms waving around helplessy. He sputters water and splashes around. Okay thats it. This kid is gonna drown. I jump into the water and pull him out, onto the pool deck. It's not very hard to carry him, considering he probably weighs, like, 50 pounds.
'I could've made it, Courtney." He coughs and crosses his legs to sit.
"Five more seconds and you would have been under the water. That's the fifth time this week, Cliff."
"But I was almost there!!" he protests. I sigh and stand up.
"Alright! Class over! Get changed and get outta here!" I call out. I look at the kids who nod and leave to the changerooms.
"You too, Cliff." I say. He nods and hurries off. I take my towel from a nearby bench and dry my hair.
I head into the changerooms and lock myself in a stall, quickly changing into bleached jeans, and a pink pullover sweater. I pull on my winter boots, and head outside. I meet Anthony at the same spot I left him.
"Damn," he says.
"What?"
"You even look good saving ten year olds."
I just roll my eyes and adjust my backpack. "Let's go." I say. He smirks as he teasingly pulls my beanie over my eyes and we leave the building.

We arrive to school, a coffee and muffin in my hand. He stops the car, parking terribly.
"We've now arrived at our fina, destination: hell." He grins.
"Real mature, Anthony." I say.
I jump out the car and begin to walk to the school when I'm attacked from behind. Well.... Not really attacked but... Hugged. Surprised, I drop my coffee and it spills onto the snow. I don't even have to look behind me.
"Anthony!" I yelp.
"Yes, princess?" He whispers into my ear, his breath warm on my neck. I suddenly feel butterflies in my stomach and my cheeks go red. Actually, they were red before from the cold, but now they're..... redder.
"Uhm... um..." I fumble my words.
He lets go of and steps back, folding his arms. "You aren't very good at this game."
I blush even more. Ugh!! Of course! I turn around and walk towards him. I stop once I'm close. So close that my nose almost reaches his lips.
"If you are forgetting, the game ends when one confesses love for one another. I haven't so done that. I can play this game quite well." I smirk. In response, his lips gently brush my nose, planting a sweet, short kiss there. I stumbled backwards, but he catches me before I fall.
"You looked cold." He smiles.
