"I don't know how," Alan murmurs in frustration. I grin. "I do," I say, he must've forgotten about my heat vision. I stare at the chains and heat comes instantaneously. Getting good at this.
The chains melt off and I struggle to my feet. Alan stands back impressed. But I still feel weak after the little torturing incident. Alan takes note of this and hands me a pill.
"Swallow it," he demands. "But I'm horrible at taking pills," I protest glaring at the mega pill. "Chug it, chug it," Alan chants. I laugh despite the seriousness of this our predicament. I tuck my head into my chest (it actually helps when you're taking them) and gulp it down.
But now that I think about it, how do I even know that Alan has really changed to good? Well I guess he is converted because the pill actually renewed my limited energy supply. "Better? Now we can't waste time," he grabs my hand and pulls me to the door.
"You have to trust me," he said no hint of joking in his eyes. And for some reason unbeknownst to me, I do. He throws open the door and I see scenery whizzing past us. He starts to climb up the rungs beside us.
"Wait we have to get on that thing?" I don't see sense in this plan. "Yep. If we go thru the train the others will most definitely spot us," he said as he clambered onto the jolting train. I tentatively take hold of the rungs and hoist myself up.
I grasp Alan's hand when I can reach it. He pulls me up with vampire strength. I stand on top of the train rigid with fright. "On the count of three," he said holding my sweaty hand.
"Wait wha-" I stammer. "Three"
" I didn't agree to this"
"Two"
"I'm not going anywhere" "ONE"
"AHHHH"
We took a flying leap onto the cable car caboose. "That was exhilarating," I breathed. "Yes is was" Alan agreed. We have to make our way to the caboose of the train, is what I got from our escape plan. Once there maybe we can hop off undetected. That's our plan for now. Sigh.
But we have a long ways to go. This is own massive train and we are close to the front of it. So we take of down the train. And we repeat the whole on three thingy. After about three more jumps, I turn around to look ahead of us. I pale.
We are gonna die. Up a head is a large mountain with a tunnel going through it. We are going to have to lie flat on our stomachs and hope the low tunnel won't annihilate us.
Or we can try to reach the end by the time that happens. We chose the second option. "Run," I yelled at Alan. And we do. Leaping over the wide gaps, I know we won't make it. It's getting closer. But by the time I realize we can probably just climb down for a few minutes, it's too late.
I fall onto my stomach and Alan does the same beside me. We duck our heads so we don't hit the top and suddenly we're lunged into darkness. If I raise myself a inch more my back will scrape against the roof. For at least thirty minutes we are stuck in this position not daring to move.
Finally we come out into the piercing sunlight. Wait Alan shouldn't be in sunlight. I glance at him but he seems okay to me. I'm not sure, so I don't bring it up. We grab hands and bound if towards the fateful caboose.
