Hi, guys! I took Latin a few years ago and was asked to write a myth. I took this assignment close to my heart since I am kind of a die-hard fan of Percy Jackson. I hope you guys like my version of a Greek/Roman myth :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
          Trekking back to nearly three million years ago, from today, an idea formed in a scholar’s mind. A young man named Adonis was set with determination to stay young--forever. I’m not just talking about the flesh on his skin spread in a glow, but he wanted his soul with a broad, enlightened intellect to be eternal. Adonis lived in Athens, Greece where he noticed a small cleft that formed the outside of a steep cliff on a sharp, rocky mountain to be covered with a thin sheet of gold along the rim of a cave. No one would be able to see this, but Adonis had the keenest eyesight. He had read that in this very cave was the Pool of Aionios, the lake of immortality.
            So, Adonis packed everything he needed for this expedition up the mountain. As he climbed up the mountain, all he thought about was the feeling of life being lived on until he could supersede a new generation. Although, the greed was taking over his mind, for when he picks up the cup used for drinking the eternal water, a vast crack will make the city fall, while Adonis will be forced to watch the lives of millions die. He tried to put this past him as he got on stiff land. Adonis had reached the mountain when the room started to spin in his head.
        He fell back, regaining focus; could see a small man and woman staring at him. They introduced themselves as (the man) Helios and (the woman) Selene. They were both figures of Adonis’s conscience. “You and I both know that diminishing the small human race that we have in the city will never form again. You will be the only one living”, said Helios. “But it will not matter”, says Selene, “You will live forever! You will reproduce the next task of human intelligence and create the unexpected!” Helios stepped closer to Adonis. “If you drink this water, you will forever know that you were a murder.” And the room started to spin and twirl and in the blink of an eye they were gone. Adonis started to look at the gray misty pool of eternal water. Then, next to the pool was a copper rock which instilled the golden cup. It was detailed with the prettiest design of flowers and a single heart left in the middle. Adonis took one look at the cup, looked down at the steep endless ground at the side of the mountain, and jumped to his life’s end leaving his pain to wash away regret.
