“Cole you are the most annoying being on this planet.” I firmly state. “You’re so pushy.”
“Just do it.” Cole pressures. “There’s nothing to be afraid of.” He attempts to reassure me, but since when is that supposed to be comforting when I’m about to free fall to my death with nothing but a flimsy bungee cord tied around my ankles.
Cole thought it’d be a great idea to take me to some bungee jumping place his dad’s friend owns in his attempt to get me out of my so called comfort zone. “You’re in your own little world and as cute as it is watching you drift off and try to figure things out you need to learn to live a little too, and if all you need is a little shove I’d be more than happy to oblige.” A boyish grin spreads across his face.
“Cole McGrath don’t you dare put a hand o-“
“Shhh.” He places a hand on my lower back. “Breathe. Don’t think and jump.” I feel his hand slightly nudge me forward causing me to lose my balance.
The body of water below me is appearing larger and larger by the second. My heartbeat quickens and I let out screams as I realize what’s happening. I’m falling. Adrenaline pumps through my veins as blood flows down to my head causing it to pound. My face stops a few inches short of the water and I squirm to look up and see Cole giving me two thumbs up, “GOOD JOB POOKIE!” He’s smirking, that smug bastard.
“Unbelievable!” I shout flailing my hands in the air as I walk towards Cole in the parking lot.
“C’mon I was just helping you out, people behind you were getting impatient.”
“Oh yeah sure, so let’s just horrify me by pushing me off a ledge that has a thousand foot drop and claim it’ll help me live a little, thanks so much Cole.” I huff.
“Fine I forgot you’re a woman, you’re right as always my dearest apologies.” He says sarcastically.
“Jerk!” I shriek in frustration. I get in the car and slam the door behind me while Cole calmly gets in on the driver’s side.
He sighs. “Look okay, maybe you’re right and I’m sorry for pushing you, but c’mon have a little fun pookie.” He reaches over to gently caress my cheek. I hate it when he makes me feel this way, I can’t even stay mad at him even though he basically sent me falling to my death. I can’t let him know how he makes me feel or the bad boy wins. I turn my back to him giving him the cold shoulder. “Fine wanna play that game? Since you’re so stubborn I guess I’ll just have to find a way to make it up to you.”
“I don’t want you to make it up to me I want you to drop me off at my house and leave me alone because I’m mad at you right now and I’d appreciate it if you could respect that.” I coldly say as he nods his head in understanding.
“Fine.” He simply states giving up and agreeing. The rest of the ride is spent in complete silence, all you could hear was the sound of our light, even breaths.
It’s Friday and me and Cole haven’t talked since the bungee jumping session we had on Tuesday, not even a single text message was sent by either of us and it’s killing me inside, I always overreact, but then again it was kind of his fault. Neither of us will work up the nerve to say anything so I guess I’ll just mope around until he decides to get the guts to say something like I don’t know a “hi, how’ve you been” or maybe even just a “hey”, but no I can’t even get that out of him.
