"Adrien, your father is calling you." Nathalie's voice was muffled from the other side of the door.

"Coming!" Adrien dropped his pencil on his math textbook and got up from his desk.

Opening the door, he stepped into the hallway and followed Nathalie to his father's office.

She opened the door for him and closed it behind them. The office smelled sterile, Adrien wrinkled his nose before putting on a straight face. "You called father?"

The man in the black office chair turned to face him. "Yes."

He hesitated. "Adrien. We will be going to a Thanksgiving dinner."

They had gone to dinners with the high end people of the fashion industry and celebrities for Thanksgiving ever since Adrien's mom died.

He missed Thanksgivings with her.

There would be a turkey that was home cooked, not catered by a 5 star chef. The mashed potatoes would have bacon and gravy, the best in the world.

"Father, could we stay home this year?" Adrien asked hopefully.

His father's face hardened. "No. This is an important event."

"But I-"

"Adrien." His father's voice held a warning. He wasn't to continue. He was to agree politely and comply.

His eyes fell to the floor. "Yes father."

Natalie led him back out into the hall and to his own room.

Adrien slumped onto his couch and pulled a blanket over his head.

"Adrien?"

"Not now Plagg." He grumbled. "I need to be alone."

-

"Tikki! Watch out!" Marinette called.

A glob of mashed potatoes was flying through the air towards the little kwami.

Tikki realized too late and the glob hit her, sending her careening towards the floor.

"Tikki!" Marinette exclaimed. She cupped her hands and jumped across the kitchen, arms extended.

THUMP.

"Ouch." Marinette ended up belly flopping onto the tiles with Tikki safe in her palms.

Tikki quickly wiped mashed potatoes from her eyes to see Marinette sprawled across the floor.

"Oh Marinette! I'm so sorry!"

Marinette stood up and set Tikki into the sink, giggling. "It's fine, Tikki, I'm ok! Besides it was my fault that the mashed potatoes flew at you in the first place."

Marinette was home alone to make Thanksgiving dinner. Her parents were out delivering their famous pies across the city, so until they were back, Marinette had the house to herself to whip up some amazing food. And of course since everyone was gone, Tikki could help.

Or get hit by mashed potatoes apparently.

Marinette gave Tikki a quick rinse in the sink and dried her off with a clean wash cloth.

"There. Good as new!" Marinette said. "Now let's make the gravy!"

-

Adrien was in the shower, doodling on the steamed door with his finger.

He wanted to stay at home.

"When Mom was alive, she would make the best pumpkin pie..." he thought to himself. "I wish she was here..."
