Steven Hall is incredibly smart and devious. He tends to keep his thoughts and plans to himself. He is very mistrusting of everyone and everything in general, almost to the point of paranoia. He tends to keep everyone at arm's length and does not have anyone he is really close to, making him very much a mystery to everyone around him.
A Brief History:
Growing up in a small southern town, Steven Hall dropped out of high school and joined the Air Force as soon as he was old enough to enlist in a bid to not only pay for college, but to escape the small town life. Earning himself a degree not only in engineering and bio-mechanics, he soon rose in the ranks as a tactical aircraft mechanic.
He long since suspected there were supernatural entities around them, having witnessed vampires feeding in his small town. Once they announced themselves to the world and it became common knowledge, his hatred for the creatures only grew.
His intense dislike for the paranormal grew from a small Christian upbringing in a fanatical church which preached against anything strange or out-of-the-ordinary as being evil. Over the years this hatred and paranoia grew, forcing him to find like-minded individuals inside the Air Force.
His small brotherhood soon grew as he spoke out against the supernatural community, demanding they all be eradicated. His fanatical notions did not sit well with his superiors, causing him to ultimately be dishonorably discharged from service.
Convinced the government was conspiring against him and his fellow humans, he went into hiding, quietly recruiting others who believed the paranormal creatures of the world were a threat to the survival of humanity. He enlisted the help of scientists, of engineers, of doctors, and architects, slowly putting together the secret organization known as the Shield of Humanity. The agency's sole purpose was to ensure the continuation of the human race. Through experimentation, research, and many years of dedication, the founders of the agency, along with Steven himself, believed if they could unlock the secrets to the supernatural community's superhuman traits, they could use this to ultimately wipe out everyone who was not human.
Early on in his endeavors, he met and fell in love with a young woman. She thought he would eventually outgrow his outdated ways of thinking, consistently trying to steer him away from others who thought as he did. She thought by showing him how kind and loving non-humans really were, he would eventually understand they were not a threat, but he refused to believe they were anything other than monsters who deserved to be wiped off the face of the planet.
About a year into their relationship she discovered she was pregnant, opting to stay in the relationship in hopes their child would be the one thing which would eventually sway his mind. Suffering complications from childbirth, she divulged a terrible secret on her deathbed - she was not human, but a decedent from a very old and very rare lycanthrope. While she had never exhibited any of the physical characteristics of the lycan, she did inherit some of the clairvoyance the species was known to have, giving her the ability to read emotions, see snippets of the future, and sway the Fates.
She begged him to take care of their son, warning him the path he was going down would lead to nothing but heartbreak and his ultimate destruction. Unable to bring himself to fulfill her last wishes, he had left her in the hospital, taking their newborn and once again going underground.
