Falling down a hole

As I walked home from school along the old country road I questioned my existence. Who is Alex North? Or should I say 'why is Alex North'. Get what I mean? I don't really have friends, I don't do sports, and I'm not exactly what people would call "boyfriend material". I kicked the dirt as I walked along, seeing the same scenery I've seen since freshman year. I decided to cut through the woods today, as I usually did on the days that I was thinking too much. Sometimes I'm afraid I'll get bad again. Then, a giant flash of light filled the sky, blinding me for a moment. Slowly gaining my sight back rubbed my eyes and took a step but there was no ground where I was stepping, just empty space. I felt as if I had been falling for longer than necessary, and then my body hit the ground. Groggily I tried to pick myself up. My leg had apparently hit a large rock. I say apparently because I didn't feel it but I could see the blood stain on my jeans and on the rock  beside. Pain shot through me as I tried to move. I cry out in pain, begging for anyone to hear me. I sit up as much as I can bare. I open my eyes which I had squeezed shut from the pain. A tiny ball of blue light appears in front of me. I reach out to grab it— and the world went black.
