Paris. the city of love or the location of the Eiffel Tower. restaurants with croissants and apparently rats that can cook. people that hit each other with a baguette.

to Caroline it is a whole new world. the world of romance, french kissing. a stunning tower that lights up each night, residents praising the beauty of the monument. many restaurants and cafes with all sorts of food from croque-monsieur to as simple as a macaroon. no rats in the kitchen, although it's is a fantastic movie. the rats roam the outdoors. the greatest part is that the boys are much more attractive here.
Caroline moved from the United States, a microscopic town in Northern California . she is attending her second year at Gracelyn Prep. a boarding school college, quite expensive it is. Caroline comes from a family of pure money. she chooses not to take advantage of it, though her parents shower her with Armani, Dior, Burberry, Prada, Versace, and all of the exorbitant brands.

today is move in day, to the of course luxurious dorms. Caroline opened the golden handle doors to her new home for the next nine months. it was full of plain white, marble, satin, and velvet items.
she moved the few boxes of clothing, shoes, toiletries, and trinkets into the closet of the room. she unpacked the boxes and put everything in their places. a couple faint knocks were placed on her front doors. she walked to the front and looked through the peek hole. quickly she opened the doors to embrace her best friend in a hug.

perspective change: Caroline 1st person

"sweet Caroline! ive missed you so much!"

"hey Jules, how was Italy?" i ask her.

Julianna Beal, my most best gal pal ever. she is born and raised here in Paris. the girl has got looks. mid length dark hair and chocolate eyes. her father Sean Beal is a fashion designer.

"it was glorious! and the spaghetti was to die for." she laughed.

"did you happen to see the posters for the back to school dance already? ugh it looks so hot this year." she tells me. i walk over to the bed and decorate it with blue and grey pillows.
"it's a masquerade ball isn't it?" i question her.

"it sure is. i've already got eyes on a date. zayn delemair, total eye candy." she awes over him.

i smile at her, she seems happy. i hang up some coats on hangers and put them in the massive closet.
"what room are you in?" i ask her.

"214, should be just down the hall." she says. i nod my head and sit on the furry white chair.

"you wanna go get lunch? they have the lunch hall open even though there's no school. maybe we can find Quinn, or Sterling and Rhett.

"let's do it. Rhett said they three were driving up together." i say. i grab my phone and room keys, for we leave my dorm and walk downstairs.
the dining hall is just a few blocks from the dorm buildings so we decide to walk there. it was a short walk. we enter the dining hall to see many of the fellow students here at Gracelyn.
"i see them! Quinn, Rhett, and Sterling!" Juli shouts.
we run over to the table they are at. they throw their arms at me, only to tighten to a hug.
"aw i've missed you guys so much! its been too long!" Quinn cries.

we sit down with our food and smoothies.

"so Rhett, how was the car ride with the twins." he glances at both Sterling and Quinn, who yes, are twins.

"oh god it was hell. they sit there and argue over the god damn air freshener." Rhett shakes his head in annoyance.

"yeah well it is my car and Sterling can't pick the scent that i'll be smelling my whole life cause it is my car!" Quinn argues. Sterling makes a face at her.

"ok new topic. did you guys see the poster for the back to school dance? its a masquerade theme! a ball." Juli wiggles her brows.

"and i am sure as hell not going." Sterling says officially.

"yeah you're going. we're going as a group because we are all hot as fuck and we don't have dates. we'll show up together, totally owning the place, then we can split up and find a fellow hot as fuck person." Julianna explains.

"who's in, because this sounds good to me." I put my hand in the middle to be joined by Juli's, Rhett's, and Quinn's. Juli picks up Sterling's hand and puts it in the middle.

"go find a suit or a gown and a mask. red and black are the colors. now leave." Juli says.

i pick up my phone and keys, and leave the circle, only to head back to my room. i text Quinn and Jules to ask them when to go dress shopping. they each respond saying to leave around two after the noon. Zoililia Boutique. i make my way toward my front door. the was a girl passing out small envelopes to each door in the hallway. "excuse me?" i stop the girl, she was quite small, a freshman i assume. she turns around quickly, her eyes wide with fear.
"what are you passing out may i ask."

"sorry to bother you Ms. Grey. it's a letter from the head, details about the ball." she tells me.

why would they pass out a letter for this? "oh well, thank you for passing this out." i smile at her. i enter my room and kick off my shoes. i unfold the envelope and remove the message. next i read.

Dear Ms. Caroline Grey,
I suppose you are confused about the letter. This is a letter written personally to you and you only. We, the head of the school, and your parents, James and Angeli Grey, are agreeing to something severely important. We are asking you at 10:00 pm, the night of the ball, to leave the dance and come to the main office. We have some important information to discuss with you, your parents, and a few other guests. Please do not tell anyone where you are going and keep the information in this letter to yourself.

Sincerely,
Mr. Gracelyn (principal)
