Hello, you maybe be wondering who I am. I am 16 year old Alexander Beckham. I'm the son of soccer (football for all of you fans outside of the states) legend David Beckham.
I was just recently signed by the MLS club, the L.A Galaxy. Now to most people this may sound like a dream come true, but you have to see things from my point of view. I am only a junior in high school and I don't know if I'm quite ready to play for a major team. I mean I would have to give up my current life so I could play the sport of my dreams.
And I wanna get my high school diploma and I want to go to college. I've already received many offers from schools such as The University of Michigan, USC, Florida, and Missouri among others. I want to get my degree and I don't want to miss out on that experience. I, up until today when I got the offer, had planned on going to The University of Michigan as they were giving me.a full-ride! I could study at one of the greatest universities in the states and play my favorite sport!
The Galaxy told me I could probably break the starting rotation in a month or two and they offered me $15,000 per week. I could really use the money and would love to get paid to do what I love! But I want to go to college and I want to get my degree, so I can have a life after the game.
I just don't know what to do. I want to play in the big leagues right now soooo bad, but I also want to finish school. I mean there is always the possibility of homeschool and college after my career, but I don't want to be homeschooled. I want to stay at my school and finish up high school there and then go to the big leagues. But this is such a great opportunity I don't know how I could pass it up.
I just don't know what to do anymore. Maybe I should give myself a little more time to think. Yeah, that's what it is! I'll give myself and extra week or so and I'll just think about it the whole time. Yeah. Yeah, that's how I'll make my choice! And I know I'll make the right decision if I just think.
