I'm stood there looking deep into the soul of the crystal blue eyes that are staring back at me, taking in the image, the feelings. Looking at the long, dirty blonde hair that falls down to the middle of the girls back, she looks tired and broken, her eyes showing sadness and hate. The girl I was overlooking was my own reflection.

I've always been a shy child since I was able to understand the world, I loved reading books, they took me to a different world, a world that loved me. I've learned to hate myself over the past few years, being scared to talk to people, not been able to make friends. My mother, Diana, always nagging at me "April Jones put down that stupid book and go make friends" Bla bla bla, like she would know how hard it was.

I live in a neighbourhood full of old-ish snobby people that live in a big old fashioned houses like mine, there is no children around my age - 5 years old - that live in this area.

My mum and dad broke up a few months ago, I've had this feeling that things weren't right between them, always arguing, my dad staying on the sofa. Sometimes I felt like it was my fault, that I caused their brake up, but now I realise it wasn't me, they just 'lost feelings' according to my mum.

My mum ended up creating an account on a dating website, over the months she went on a few dates but none of the men caught her eye. She finall met a guy; he has black, mopped hair, dark green eyes, 6ft 3 with a muscular build. Not the type of guy I thought my mum would go for since she's very petite with light brown hair that comes just above her shoulders and green eyes.

I had only met this guy a couple of times while my mum was dating him, he seemed like a kind, caring man which is the sort of guy my mum needs since she's been a bit down during the break up with my dad.

Those few months were hard for my mum having to be a single parent, in them months I had to stand hard as a stone for her. Things were going well between my mum and Matt but he had his secrets...
