Our childhood is over.
We've grown.
The smiles once so real
Have become nothing
But a mask to cover
Up our pain.
The eyes once
So bright and true
Have become dark and empty.
Hiding our lies,
Fears, pain, and secrets.
The laughter that once
Came so easily
Is now forced.
The monsters that used to live
Under our beds,
Protected by teddy bears,
Now live freely in our heads.
With nothing stopping them
From tearing us apart.
Our body once clear and beautiful
Is now hidden.
Covered in scars and cuts.
The secrets we once told,
Are now kept inside.
Parents that loved each other
Now argue and fight.
Not knowing how much
It kills us inside.
The cuts and bruises
That used to be mended
With a kiss,
Are still there.
But not easily fixed.
Once upon a time,
We lived in a place
Without broken hearts,
Depression and sadness.
We were happy and free.
Now look at what we've
Become.
