The elves were and are hated by humans and hunted in attempt to permanently exterminate the race. Elves are techniqally better then humans physically and mentally, taller, smarter, beautiful, intimidating, and potentially dangerous. There was an elf king amongst this all. He was a lone king and felt no need to claim a wife to be queen as he believed his days were unlimited to rule. However he did fool around and developed a romance with a peasant servant girl in his kingdom. She fell pregnant and the king would not accept that fact and shunned her from his kingdom under the accusation of treason. The woman, heartbroken, went off and had her baby, a beautiful girl. However, her small home was attacked, the humans raided inside and just as they were to kill the servant woman, a cloaked man entered the cabin and fought off the others. He was an accepting young man. He saw all races as equal and took both mother and child to his nearby cabin where his wife waited. The young couple attempted to treat the mothers wounds but they were too grave. The human wife discussed the situation they were in prior, she had just given birth to a still born a few months ago. The elven woman knew she was destined to die, she could feel the humans pain in her voice and asked the couple to care for her daughter as their own, raise her as a human but to make sure the girl was to know she was an elf. She said this as she took her last breath, baby on her breast, sleeping soundly.
Around age 12, the humans heard rumors of an elven child being raised by humans and were outraged. They raided and the couple fought hard to defend their daughter but it was far from enough. The girl, at her mother's side, sobbed as a knight approached to behead her, her mother shooed her away with her last breaths, and as the elven girl ran she heard her mother shout "Prove them wrong!".
