This is just a short story that I came up with for my English class.  Hope you like it. :)

One shot is blown then another; the sound of bullets fly’s through the air until one pierces ones precious skin, taking their life.  There are explosions everywhere you go; it is a nightmare for anyone to see.  There are bodies lying everywhere, blood mixes with dirt.

The faces and clothing of the soldiers are covered in blood mixed with the dirt, making them look like zombies that have just risen from the ground.

One innocent girl, who is witnessing the scene beside with her mother, huddles closer for comfort.  The horrifying images going through her mind as she’s watching them shoot at one another.  The colours red and orange flashing outside mixed in with the colour grey.  She squeezes her eyes tight with fear trying to forget the horrifying images before her.

“No, this can’t be happening, we’re losing the battle,” Malali said, her voice trembling with fear.  “Can we do anything to help?” she asked her mother.

Her mother replied, “No. You have to stay here where it’s safe.”  Her tone was firm, but gentleness remained and reached through the sounds of war to comfort Malali.

“But we can’t just watch them die, we’ll become slaves if we fall to the British,” Malali pleaded.

She ran out of the house as fast as her lags could carry her, her mother’s voice faded as she ran further from the house.  “I have to help, we can’t give up now,” she called over her shoulder.

The Afghan troops were about to give up, they were losing the battle, and losing hope.  Being captured and becoming prisoners began to sound more satisfying than losing their life.

They were about to surrender when Malali rushed out to the front of the troops.  Panting, trying to make her voice sound firm and not squeak, she yelled, “We can win this battle!”

The Afghans turned heads simultaneously.  They stared at her surprised “What’s a little girl doing out here?” one man said.

“I am Malali and I believe that we can win this battle,” Malali called again, trying to make her voice firm.

“How?” another man asked, “We’ve lost too many men already, we won’t be able to pull through this.”

“We have to keep trying, just remember that you are fighting for our country and that there are innocent people who live here, we just have to work together,” Malali replied.  “Do you want to become prisoners for the rest of our lives and rot until we die?”

“No,” a few soldiers chanted.

“This is our country. Are we just going to let anyone take over?” Malali yelled.

“NO,” they all yelled simultaneously.

“So let’s fight for our country and win this battle!” Malali screamed at the top of her lungs.

Malali turned away from the soldiers and started marching her way through the battle field with the Afghan troops following behind her.  The Afghans worked together and started blasting away shooting everything in their path until they would had nothing left to use but their bare hands.  Eventually the British gave up and retreated.  They all cheered.  Malali turned to see her mother.  Her mother smiled.
