[you]i could feel myself dozing off as i awaited for the starbucks barista to call my order. i needed that caffeinated green tea. key word, caffeinated.
"hey!" i jumped at the sudden yell of kyung-jee's voice and the pound of her hand on the table. "don't fall asleep. that presentation is in an hour." i sighed. i knew what time the presentation was all too well. it's all i could think about while attempting to sleep the night before. it seems so simple to fall asleep in the day, but so agonizingly difficult when the sun goes down.
"kyung-jee, i know all too well what time the presentation is. if only it weren't at eight in the freaking morning. i hate school."
"relax, y/n, we're gonna ace this presentation." i glared at her, my puppy eyes filled with doubt. "y/n, i swear. we worked on this presentation together. plus, science is the last grade you need to get to an a." i sighed, slightly relieved by her words, but not quite contented."green tea with soy milk!"
my eyes lit up like a christmas tree as i speed walked to the glorious caffeinated drink. i could see it, and i was so close to being able to sip that all natural cup of joy.

and-my hand collided with the one of a stranger, as we simultaneously reached for that cup of joy. we had both grabbed it from the top, and his hand unfortunately was atop mine. i flushed furiously, and was energized to the core out of fear. i'm worthless in social situations when that social situation is accompanied by physical human contact. i just hope he's different. after us both staring wide-eyed at the incident, we looked to each other in sink, and my cheeks flushed even deeper if that's was even possible. so did his. he was intriguing and mysterious. sure, i may be worthless in social situations, but that's what makes me the perfect hopeless romantic. i loved the idea of situations like this, yet hated the idea of being in one. after a moment, i knew i would have to handle the predicament we were in myself.
"ah- sorry about that." my voice was like a pubescent boy, cracking furiously.
and the boy laughed.
he.
laughed.
"c'mon, don't laugh at me." i sounded like a child. the boy went wide-eyed.
"oh, no, no it's not like that! my voice cracks too, it made me laugh only because it seems like i'm the only one." he explained.
"your voice cracks? c'mon, aren't you in like, your 20's? your so... tall." i gazed up at his height.
"20's?! god, no! i'm sIxTeEn." he intentionally cracked his voice as he corrected his age. this time i laughed.
"look who's making fun of now!" he was giggling endearingly.
"no, no. it's not like that!" we were snickering uncontrollably, trying to keep our laughs to a minimum to not drew attention. i began to cool down as i realized...this really isn't that funny.
i sighed contently. "i'm y/n by the way. i would shake your hand but..." i gestured with my head to my hand, trapped in between the cup and his suspiciously large hand.
"oh!" he lifted his hand, and clasped them together, resting them in front of him.
"now, we can shake hands." he said with a smile, as he put his hand out. vaguely hesitant, i shook his hand. he smiled intensely. "s-so does this mean we're friends?" my mouth went slightly agape as i realized how shy he really was.
"yes. yes i guess it does." i smiled genuinely. it's hard for me to make friends. if you put my social anxiety to the side, no one has the interests i do.
"in that case, i'm glad we're friends." we grinned once more before grasping our cups of magic.i headed for the stand of honey, vanilla powder, sugar etc, eyeing the bear shaped bottle of honey. i could tell my new found friend was right behind me, headed for the same place i was. i refrained from laughing as we both reached the stand. and then, the funniest possible thing that could've happened, happened,
we reached for the bear shaped bottle of honey, simultaneously. our hands, yet again colliding upon the top of the honey jar. we burst into laughter, drawing unwanted attention from the customers of the cafe. we tried to quiet our laughter as to not draw even more attention to ourselves. it's like we were made up of eighty percent water and twenty percent shyness. even kyung-jee was giving me weird looks.
a beep from the boys smartwatch made him avert his attention and stop laughing. i took in a few deep breaths and got my giggles under control.
"oh! i'm sorry, y/n, i have to go. i have practice."
"o-oh okay. practice for wha-" he cut my sentence off.
"bye, friend!" his long legs extended as he broke into a full on sprint. he left in such a hurry it made him even more intriguing. i didn't even know his name. i huffed in confusion, while moving my attention back to my tea. i popped off the cap and as i reached for the honey, expecting no further interruptions from this boy. i was wrong. he left his cup. it's not that i'm a creep. i just wanted to know his name. and so i took the cup.
two cups in each hand."y/n!" kyung-jee exclaimed, her iced mocha already in her hand. "what was that? you know him right?"
"well, i know him now. we just met." kyung-jee sighed.
"y/n, we've been best friends for eleven years. i know that look. you like him don't you?"
"kyung-jee! no i don't like him..." i failed at hiding my grin.
"y/n, i know when you're lying too."
"okay, fine. he's cute and... mysterious. but i do not like him." kyung-jee wasn't like me when it came to romance. i romanticize practically every situation, while she was practical. "really, kyung-jee, we're just friends."
"friends? do you even know his name?" i checked both coffee cups, one saying y/n and the other saying,
"jisung. his name is jisung." i avoided eye contact with kyung-jee.
"don't tell me you took his cup. oh, y/n, you stole his cup?! stalker!"
"kyung-soo why do you always wear pants?" i said in an attempt to change the subject.
"because the skirts barely go past the mid thing obv- don't change the subject! you're a stalker!"
"no, no, it's not like that! i just wanted to know his name. he left to go to practice before i could further interrogate him." i explained.
"well..." kyung-jee started. "it's still stealing."
"stealing for a good purpose." i said sarcastically with a quirky tone. "c'mon, kang kang. we're gonna be late." we walked side by side, in short strides. as we neared our school, my stress about school dropped immensely. my mind was overcome by him. my new friend.💕vote|comment 💕
