CASS’S POV
“Argh!” Jade yelled, falling onto a leather couch. “I am so glad to be off that flipping plane. It’s redonkulous how long we have to stay up in the air!”
Rubbing her temples, Jade’s best friend, Sammie, sunk gratefully into another lounge. “It doesn’t matter. We’re off now, and we don’t have to fly back to Australia for another three weeks.”
“Yeah, but we still have to fly all around the UK,” I ran over and jumped onto the couch next to Jade.
“That doesn’t matter, Cass,” Jade ruffled my hair. “Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland could fit into Australia thirty-one times with a bit still left over. We’ll survive.”
“I’m sure we will!” Angela, my manager, lugged a heavy suitcase through the hotel room door. “Girls, how much clothing did you all bring?”
Jade, Sammie and I exchanged shifty glances.
“Only about six or seven suitcases between us…” Sammie fidgeted.
Angela rolled her eyes.
“Well, you girls can have the job of unpacking them!” Grinning, Angela fled the room, leaving space for the bellhop to push his luggage carrier in.
“Thanks very much, sir,” I jumped off the couch, pulling a suitcase off the top. The man grinned, flipping his hair to one side.
“The pleasure is all mine, Miss de Havilland,” he winked at me. “I’m a huge fan.”
“Well, thank you,” I blushed, not sure what to say. I could feel Jade and Sammie’s grins boring a hole in the back of my head.
“Do you… I mean, would you mind signing my copy?” the bellhop removed his cap, playing with it in his hands.
“Of course I don’t mind,” I smiled, before shooing him away. “Go on, go get it.”
He grinned at me, before fleeing the room. My cheeks still red, I turned around, to be met with the cheeky gazes of my two twenty-one-year-old friends. I studied them as they grinned at me. Jade Thomas and Sammie Walker are average height and weight, but that’s where the similarities end: Jade is outgoing, with dark, wavy hair, while Sammie is quieter, with dirty blonde locks. However, both girls are the best of friends, having met while taking a makeup and fashion course at university, and both ended up landing the job of ‘personal stylist’ to yours truly.
“Ooh, someone’s got an admirer!” Jade sang, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
“He’s a fan, Jade,” I rolled my eyes. “I’m a fan of Taylor Swift, does that make me love her?”
“Yes,” Sammie said. “You’ve said so yourself.”
“Yes, but not love love! I just – forget it. You’re just doing this to wind me up.” Sighing, I grabbed another suitcase and flung it at Jade’s head. Giggling, she caught it and placed it on the ground, zipping it open.
“Back!” I spun around to see the bellhop back at the door, holding a book. Smiling, I walked over and took the book and the pen, studying the front cover. I’d seen it thousands of times before; after all, it is my book. The cover was intriguing, with a picture of a girl writing on the front, surrounded by explosions. The title was blazed across the middle, tying in with the pictures: ‘Autographs’. Flipping open the cover, I took off the pen lid and got poised to write.
“Who’s it out to?” I asked.
“Jared, please,” the bellhop grinned like a loony. Chuckling, I quickly scrawled down a message and my signature, before handing the book and pen back to him.
